I don't think he needs to be much of a scorer at all ala Scoop. Score in open court when presented but otherwise protect the ball and create space for plus scorers like the Euro kid we signed. He needs to add strenght, obviously, but what he should do is learn to be incredibly slippery. If you're going to be small in a forest, use it to your advantage. Don't try to be what you aren't. Find creases, apply pressure, get guys drop stepping as you blow by them. Get good at pocket passes, drop offs, etc.
Get quick on lift off for floaters and quick jumpers.
Cuse will ask different things from him than his AAU. If he can establish a 3 pt shot that has to be accounted for his dribble drive kickouts will create much more space. Scoop went from 28% to 38% from 3 in 1 year on the hill and from 2:1 assist to turnover to over 4:1. That's really all you need from a PG. Protect the ball, play defense, and create looks for 3m and Sadiq.
FWIW I don't expect more than 10-12 mins per game for him year 1. We'll play some mixture of the 6'5, more physically developed combo guards and win some 65-58 rock fights that were 75-62 losses last year. Not sexy but winning ugly is sure better than losing pretty.
