Class of 2026 CG Ryan Moesch (NY) Offered

Honestly, if GMAC feels like he can fix and or mitigate the bad of George game (bizarre turnovers), as well as getting George to buy in to the GMAC way, I’m super optimistic. If the above doesn’t happen then let’s see what happens in the portal. George’s good is really good, at times, brilliant play.
You echo my thoughts exactly.

Gerry has called out ball security as a major emphasis in what he expects and that is at major odds with George who averaged over 3 turnovers a game last year and had too many games with 5 or 6.

This was also a problem for Donnie to go with his injury issues and checking out.

Kingz, Kiyan, Sadiq and Betsey all did better with ball security last year. Obviously other areas those 4 have flaws.

I think G was a better athlete.

Yeah he was- that was why I was saying a combo of G and Kris Jo in terms of modeling his game. Mainly from being a playmaker who is crafty and can use his size to get to his spots while playing both sides of the ball and being a willing rebounder. He does have that Kyle Anderson mindset of not being hurried in his game too. Big thing is he has to make better decisions and be more of a willing passer and defender while also focusing on efficiency. In that Melo snippet he was pointing at some NBA guys and how he can model his game after them as they play without being elite athletes and that efficiency factor was the unspoken thing I took from that.

If Kiyan can get his FT shooting into the high 70s/ 80s that would help too…

Gbinige was a freak athlete. He had great speed. I remember in the regional final against Virginia when he went coast to coast and just blew by everyone.
I think freak athlete is a strong term but he was certainly far more athletic than Kiyan. Another issue with the Kiyan as PG idea...he has no PG instincts lol.

He is Carmelo's kid. He is programmed to be a scorer. We can hopefully get him to be less of a ball stopper but I do not at all see him becoming a true distributor.

He needs to become a little more willing as a passer, get a bit stronger, and continue working on the jump shot (which I think is generally fine based on his high school play but he had a disappointing freshman year after the hot start).

It was hard to place what happened with his jump shot outside maybe just getting lazy or rushed with his footwork? The release seems pretty good.

I don’t think true distributor is in his future but over 2 apg as someone who can find an open man when he gets into the lane should be reasonable also as someone who is a pressure release to be another ball handler.

He’s a player of extremes. If anyone can harness that in, it’s Gerry being a former combo guard himself.

yes can be improved but still won't be able to get to silent g's athleticism. G was explosive athlete. Kiyan's lack of quickness limits his ability to stay in front of people on defense. He'll be a good offensive player, but unfortunately a below average defender. Kiyan would have been a better fit in JB's zone, where his height would allow him to play up top but not get exposed in M2M by quicker guards.
Now there I disagree unless ur playing Jordan. To be good defensively is effort. It helps to be quick but doesn’t require it. Maybe in a sprint he gets beat but with effort an average athlete can be a good defender. Now I know if u are Jordan athletically then you can be whatever u want. Its position, using hands, knowing offensive guys fav moves or angle he takes. It’s studying him like it’s your job which it is. How low u play and the fact that you leave it all on that side of the ball.

I’m torn on how to describe what I’m going to attempt to describe, especially because I’ve gone on record on numerous occasions chastising for taking “comparisons” too literally.

But, if you want to compare athleticism, I get the feeling we will not see Kiyan ever attempt a near foul line dunk like Silent G was soooooo close to doing multiple times. Mike was close to owing me for multiple ceiling repairs.

How many times have we seen a freshman that outperforms ranking because a coach with a good eye saw something others didn’t? This is the perfect kind of no expectations gamble to bring over behind a portal haul. If he can’t hack it no one remembers.
The Wagner kid at Illinois was recruited as a project.

Gavin Doty averages 9 pts and has a negative DBPM for a 11-13 team in the MAAC.

He's a good story for Siena, but I mean...

This type of thinking is what has allowed us to get to this point.
Interesting take…

i want to maintain lobdell.

for reasons.

I suspect Gerry will appreciate how hard he plays. Suspect he will help Sadiq use it more appropriately.

I want to retain Sadiq more than anyone else currently on the roster.
Sadiq needs to curb his penchant to foul which keeps him on the bench. His 40 minute stats shows he commits 6.7 fouls every 40 minutes which is unacceptable. If he can learn how to be efficient, use better judgement , I agree he could be a real asset. He’s preventing himself from being an asset by limiting his time on the court.

Tendency for freshmen bigs is to foul too much. He’ll adjust next year if he’s still here.

KA point guard idea I agree is utterly absurd. I agree with a post a month or so ago. Hoping that he grows another one to two inches and gains weight/ strength. Potentially play the 3. He is a capable passer however he has such a long way to go defensively, I think he can get there. Going to take a bit of time. High upside if he keeps working
