Chris Bell Entering the Transfer Portal

You can say that again.

I hope he goes to a P4 team (ie: St.John’s :) ) that has a good coach and system in place. How he performs in that setting will let us know if the problem is with our coaching or with Chris. I wish him the best and hope it works out for him because he showed before this season, promise as an NBA player if he improved his overall game.
He is a one trick pony, shoots wide open threes at a mediocre clip. Dont see him ever sniffing the G league let alone an NBA roster.

Chris Bell does the most important thing in basketball at an elite level.

One trick pony, yes.

But he’s an athletic 6’7” one trick pony, and some coach will give him a shot to prove he can reach his potential.

He doesn't play hard enough for any good team to take him. You just don't suddenly become an effort guy.
I bet Pitino would have him hustling.

And also playing hard on the basketball court.

I was rooting for Chris this year and wish him the best. He is a great stationary shooter from the corner but it got frustrating seeing him stand around and watch others get rebounds. Defensively he was only good at blocking shots from behind on layups. Tough to lose a shooter but I think he wants a bigger role somewhere else.

Pitino just sat the Big East Player of the Year in the final minutes of a close game, presumably due to either effort or performance (or a combo of both)

I can't see Bell excelling in such an environment, but I have been wrong many times.

Makes sense from a basketball perspective, but I hope he gets to a school that’s comparable to Syracuse academically.

Personally, I think it would suck to spend 3 years at Syracuse only to get your diploma from a lower rated school.

He went 3 for 17 and played 30 minutes. He was sulking towards the end, body language was bad and lost all confidence. That’s why he sat. Bell’s a different animal.

Hope he gets the Cuse degree. Understand he's a Maxwell student and a good one at that.

Elite level? Well, objectively and statistically speaking, I guess elite depends upon one's definition of same. Moreover, Bell, doesn't have a quick release, and, relatively takes a bit of time to get off his shot fluidly (not rushed) based upon his developed mechanics, etc. Additionally, he doesn't really elevate on his jumper, and it's seemingly more along the lines of a set shot. Therefore, those traits would appear to be rather problematic in the NBA.

I'm not implying that he has no shot at the NBA, but it does seem it would be quite the uphill battle, all things considered.

We all Falsely didn't do what?
OP: I couldn’t have possibly been more wrong about his career progression. I thought he had the potential to turn into a Shumpert-type player.

I hope Chris is doing well in school

Yeah he responded so well when JB tried to do the same.
Again, I know we can't give Bell credit for anything, but listening to coach Boeheim didn't appear to be a problem for Bell. He took getting chewed out from him pretty well.

I doubt many college basketball players are concerned with this.
