Chris Bell Entering the Transfer Portal

Chris Bell has an elite-caliber skill that is highly valued.

He didn't do much else, and didn't have a well rounded game. I also question whether he is dedicated to working hard to improve his skill set, as that didn't occur in any facet of his game during his three years at SU.

He seems like one of those kids who didn't necessarily "love" the game, but has used it to advance himself via a scholarship. Nothing wrong with that.

I think he gave both JB and Red some minor problems off the court, but wasn't a bad kid overall. I wish him the best, but not displeased that he's moved on.

Agree with this post. I think he’ll be a bench sniper for a winning team

Unless Bell suddenly starts playing defense, I don't see how he could play on a "winning team".

You guys watch the tourney this year? Good teams have players that can shoot AND defend.

"he doesnt dribble. he hasnt dribbled all year" - Kevin Keatts after he told his team Bell doesnt dribble before he hit 9 3's in a half.

He also doesnt play defense unless hes blocking a fast break layup and he doesnt rebound and he doesnt jump on his "jump shot" and he is not shy of yelling at his teammates and pouting on the bench.

he'll have a few big games and people will say "told you so" which is fine and their prerogative.

but ive never cared less about someone leaving. he brought nothing to our table.
problem is you cant actually build a team with one dimensional players

you can have a big that only plays defense

a pg that can only pass

a forward who can only shoot 3s

etc

but good teams have complete players that can do everything well - or at least good enough

they dont play the tradeoff game..of well, we have a PG thats too small and cant guard anyone...but he can dribble!!

it just doesnt work. you need a team full of players without glaring holes in their games to be good. otherwise, ncaa coaching staffs are too good now...they WILL exploit your weaknesses and make you pay.

bell is a GREAT shooter,,,,,but on defense and in terms of working together offensively...hes missing a lot of necessary ingredients

unfortunately, as a program that has hit a rough patch, its hard to grab those complete all around studs...but that should be the goal

bell tried hard...i really beleive it. it just didnt click mentally.

we need players with high bball IQ...and thats just not bell

he is a great shooter

he should find a team that doesnt need him to play defense or think...simply shoot

Most teams who have strong defenders can hide one guy who's not.

Our problem is that we regularly rolled out a lineup that had no strong defenders.

And, people keep talking like guys have to be NBA playoffs minutes quality to make it in today's college game.

Which team did you watch this past weekend who had a guy they hid and just hit 3s?

That sort of player is a relic.

I didn't watch any games this weekend.
Copy.

So that doesn’t help the case of my original claim, good teams in the current era don’t have a catch and shoot guy that does nothing else

he just need to find a team who has a coach who thinks he can coach him up to defend. May be Red hits a stone wall or ...

JJ wouldn’t get playing time on an ordinary Cuse team but Chris Bell has “elite” abilities. Love this board.

Good luck to the kid. Maybe get out of the corner if you want the ball.
it isnt just this board... cuse twitter is even crazier.

I mean it's not like it's some absurd argument:

elite 3pt shooter > shooting guard who can't shoot or defend
