Love the kids game; great on the boards, good on defense, good from the line, has a nice little jump shot.

But, is it just me or does he shoot everytime he touches the ball on offense? He only passes if he's 35 feet from the basket; otherwise he just shoots it or takes a few dirrbles and shoots it.

I know I'm nit-picking, but what else can we talk about at this point?

Well, a lot of the time he is open, or within 5 ft of the basket.

And he's pretty money with the mid-range jumper. Just needs to finish better when he goes to the rim.

Seems like he has been trying to do just a wee bit too much lately, but I can't think of a lot of examples, so perhaps it's a mirage.

Just checked his stats since the DePaul game:

3 games, 11/31 from the field, including 3/12 tonight and 4/12 last game.

I love CJ but he didnt play well tonight. Bring it in closer...

Yeah but he had three offensive boards.
That could have been one or two missed putbacks. And he got a crap charge call that he made a jumper on and was probably fouled on a few.

On another note Southerland played tough tonight also. Good to see him crack double digits again. He was altering shots, 4 boards one or two boxouts(one on offense for a putback layup), 2 blocks and that 1 rare turnover (he is going to be first in syracuse turnovers per minutes by the time he leaves cuse).

His shot selection wasn't great the last 2 games. Taking too many off balance shots. He does have a knack for finishing in traffic though.

What was so great about him was it used to seem like he'd take 1 or 2 shots a game, but somehow end up with 10pts. Now he's shooting constantly and not converting, kinda frustrating.

he's had a rough couple of games shooting. Maybe forcing it a bit. I don't want him to stop taking those open 12-15 footers, though. We'll need him to hit those in Feb, March, APRIL.

He does seem to be struggling the last few games. I actually think it's a good thing. He's getting a feel for being a bigger part of the offense and that needs to happen. Luckily he has not hurt us too much during this transition but he's going to continue to get better and maybe just needs to get used to having the ball in his hands more.

There is no way he's going to ever be as efficient as he was last year because he only shot when he was wide open. For him to progress as a player he needs to take the next step.

Now it could be argued that we don't need him to do that this year.; but we might. And next year? It isn't out of the realm of possibility that he becomes our primary scorer - he needs some on the job training at being a featured player. Hopefully he acclimates and takes it to another level.

Hope he can develop some kind of right hand. Something Ricky was never able to do. He had a couple of nice plays today.

Yeah, Ricky could usually get away with it because of his size - but CJ would be much more effective around the rim if he could finish with his right.

definitely in a rutt(sp), struggling to score but come one he can't go 5-6, 7-9, 4-5 every night, let's just hope he gets out of it sometime in February

took some flak after last game but i'll repeat my premise. i see cj more as a role player rather than headline center stage. he's taking too many shots imo. 11 shots 9 points.3 of those from the line. he's one of the few players on this team i'd council to step back a bit.most need to step it up.
