Rough last two years, they are in a tough spot as a small school surrounded by a lot of big schools. He is a very good coach but not a master recruiter, which is one thing they need, along with NIL

The problem with this is the timing. It is so late in the hiring process that the list of coaches still available is extremely limited.
Not unlike when we fired Coach P after a bowl game.
It will be interesting to see who they get. I hope for their sake that Clawson told the AD about his plans a while ago and Wake has been discretely looking around for a replacement.
If so, the new hire should be announced quickly.
Are they going to do another MAC HC hire? Maybe Jason Candle finally gets the call?

Master developer of talent. His thing was always get old and stay old with lots of 5th/6th year guys. Once NIL/portal changed, you saw them lose Hartman and the program could no longer compete. Pretty sad reflection of where the sport is at honestly. He was widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the country a few years ago and was on lists of every big school when they had a job opening. I’ve always respected the way he’s carried himself similar to Tony Bennett on the hoops side. He turned down offers from bigger programs and did it his way in Winston Salem
Monken? I think Wake needs a gimmick to compete. If Ga Tech could do it for a while, why not them?
