I love his hustle and heart, but Kyle Cuffe may be the worst dunker in Syracuse history. He may be the first player in NCAA history with a higher three-point percentage than dunk percentage. The one he missed last night accelerated the inevitable.

I just find it funny that with all of the issues with yesterday's game, some people felt this was the biggest "issue".

Sure, he probably shouldn't have done it, but to me it was a nothing burger. But, the shot went in, and if it gives Choppa more confidence going forward, then it was a win. And, this team needs as many wins as possible.

I've seen three guys do the same thing in the last two days, including in the NBA. Everyone wants to be on ESPN. One of the worst things to ever happen to the game. Just lay the ball in for two points.

My thought is if that is what it takes then that is what it takes. We are in desperate need of new eyes, new ideas, and new energy in the basketball program at the head coach level, and if that means a new GM and a solid recruiter has to go then so be it.

Louisville makes the move to bring in a PROVEN head coach and they immediately turned it around in one damn year to the point they’re ranked, second in the league and talking about what seed they’re going to get. Why the hell can’t Wildhack see all of this and make a damn move. My apathy has turned back into anger at the thought of putting up with this pathetic bs for another year when we have examples of places like Louisville and how quickly they fixed their program.

I hear ya. It just sounds like its because this is not how SU operates to fire after just 2 seasons. JW may not have full authority to pull the plug and need BOT approval and some of those BOTs are content w status quo and dont want to have to deal with an outside hire that may not give them the access they like and have now.

None of it has anything to do with current state of the program and winning. Its like a corrupt political office.

I mean Gross fired Paul P after a bad bowl game loss, I dont understand why JW cant fire AA after a losing season.

Red is getting next year.
If he focuses on recruiting and being the figure head coach he has a shot. He needs to let the GM determine who we spend money on. He needs to bring in a new coach to teach D.
Lots of moves need to be made. Let's see if Red's got the chops to shake up his staff and get help. If not he will be fired after next season.

Focus on recruiting? He needs to figure out how develop his players fast because class of 25 is signed and they may be the last class he gets to coach at this rate. Forget about recruiting class of 26.

He's already brought in 2 outside assistants. Griff is the only staff holdover. It hasnt made a difference. At what point of how many different assistants do you then realize, ok, changing is assistants isn't making a difference, its not the assistants, its the head coach. Like in Football you can only change Off and Def Coordinators soo many times before you then have to just place the blame on the head coach.

He needs to bring in a new coach to teach D- Im sorry, isnt this part of his job description/duties. Like if you cant do a major part of your job, how can you justify keeping your job. These statements totally prove what I have been saying that he is in over his head and the job is too big for him.

The real reason is they don’t want to pay a coach three years of salary for not coaching. There’s nothing shown to this point that Red can coach up a team. This team is so fundamentally inept that the University has to see it.

They really gave him a 5 year deal?

Wow, how do you give a guy who had never been a head coach, 5 years?
3 Years max. And SU thinks they are soo smart. We have an AD, BOT, President and they could not foresee this not working with a guy who at age 50 forget never been a head coach he never got an offer from a lower level program! Just WOW.

oh well. There are at 149 teams better than Syracuse (according to the net) that don't have these guys, they seem to figure it out.

JW made the right and safe call going with Red. After next year unless Red makes the dance JW will have the ability to go outside and make a good hire. By waiting he will have the full support vs a fractured base if he had gone outside first.

I love Cuffe but that was painful to watch.
But in fairness, several of our other players have done the same thing.

I understand he wanted to ramp up the energy, but you have to keep your eye on the ball and basket!

Please. The guy was a great player for Cuse and should see out the remainder of his 2nd season before a change is made.

A change should be made at the season end, however.

If it's run back, then reality is we simply are not an ambitious, power program anymore and the fans should come to grips with that.

It's not like this has happened overnight, so there's little surprise factor here (other than how awful this team is.)

He's an abject failure making millions of dollars and he's held to absolutely no standard because of friendships and relationships. IF this is true, I suspect they're going to cry because no one wants to donate to NIL and blame the fans for that.

Dino was fired mid season for less. Dino inherited a 3 win program and left Fran a 6 win program. It was stuck in neutral and I supported his termination; but Red has not earned anything. He was handed the job because he was "next."

Firing him might excite the fan base a little at least. Give us some hope.

I really don't understand how people can keep getting angry over and over again? Anybody that has watched this team this year knows who they are and what they are capable of. Beating Clemson last night shouldn't have been expected by anyone and losing shouldn't be a cause to get angry all over again. So unexpected that they actually covered the spread despite never being in the game after my wife got home (20-19 went to 36-23 by the time she stopped talking, didn't appreciate me pointing it out).
Disappointed? Absolutely. Further disappointed because my disappointments used to come after losing to top 10 teams. But I can't get angry unless they lose to teams like BC, Miami or Virginia. We're not good and are not going to be good. Red's not going anywhere, he'll get at least a year with White and Anthony and nothing short of going winless the rest of the season will likely change that.
