Of course, but this is different. I mean if Autry worked, potentially in most of our lifetimes we wouldn't have ever seen an outsider running the program. I'm saying initially, it's important to embrace and accept, be open minded to this working. But yes if you win, everyone will be happy and that's when it truly becomes genuine the embracing and accepting part lol.How many alums have we hired to lead the Football team in the last 60 years? One? Like anyone else, alum or not, if you win, they love you.
I was very aggressively told a couple weeks ago that salary would not be an issue. That person also strongly hinted at a candidate that I misintepreted but was later mentioned elsewhere by somebody that would know, so I trust it.Agreed, salary compensation will not be an issue, total financial support is the issue some have.
I agree with this statement. Stop dancing around and masquerading as a top ACC program. If you can’t find money from the 90k tuition the school is forcing students to pay and other methods of cash that private universities have at their disposal, then say it.Which, ok, fine. If that's their expectation, then they also shouldn't expect to sell ~18,000 season tickets nor draw the eyeballs on TV. If they want to be BC, be BC. Stop blowing smoke about how SU sports is still in the 80s and 90s.
Hire Gmac and let him do his thing in front of 8k people in the dome.
Are you okay? No reason for them to be aggressive with you.I was very aggressively told a couple weeks ago that salary would not be an issue.
Thanks for the info! The university looks at the entire amount they are on the hook for though. And yes it is 3.5-$4m to hire a top coach so are they going to shell that out? What if Hodgson says that’s what he deserves. There’s no way SU is making a $20m commitment to the guy. Hence why these others are in the conversation. They want to be at $2m a year. They have always been at $2m a year. Problem is $2m a year is a joke when you look at average salaries for these coaches these days. BH makes about $750-1m from what I researched tax free in Florida. But he’s going to get some offers that far exceed $2m a year and that’s where there is going to be a problem for cuse
Same. He is the perfect role player to plug in. He also strikes me as a player that is continually improving. His 3 point shooting issues I look at as a symptom of a crappy offense.Kingz has been our in-conference MVP or at least MIP.
In conference his PER is 18.0 in conference and his TS% is 62.2%.
I would kill to get him back.
So we are all focused on BH or Hop right now and I get it but who are the other real candidates? I know it’s a little out there but how about Bobby Hurley or either one of UConn’s top two assistants?
Am I on the list? Are you on the list? Maybe we don’t even know. I don’t usually check voicemails from unknown 315 #’s maybe I should. The "other" candidates on the list are supposedly much lower profile names...
Even if SU gets an up and comer for $2m, the only way he stays at that price is if he flops. If he succeeds, SU will have to pay multiples of that number for future contracts. The 50-year JB alumni discount is over. The cost would be made up in ticket sales in a full Dome. If too short sighted or unwilling to do that, it's just a feeder program and SU should just go down a level.
Are you okay? No reason for them to be aggressive with you.
Will he come back here is the next questionFWIW, I believe there is optimism should Kingz request an extra year.

FWIW, I believe there is optimism should Kingz request an extra year.
Very good q.Will he come back here is the next question
Just when I thought that pro-Hopkins Syracuse HC post was bad, wow this is even worse![]()
For sure, I would be shocked if Kingz isn’t a priority for Hodgson to retain, though business and vibes don’t always click even if something seems like a perfect fit on surface. They actually have so many things in common from their personal life from foster care to adoption, but also their basketball lives, they both started at the lowest of levels basically and worked their way up. It has the makings of one incredible March Madness story. But again having so much in common doesn’t mean I want to play for you, building friendship on things that you have in common doesn’t also always mean I want to play for you either. But this fan is rooting for it to happen and understands if it doesn’t. Because that is College Basketball in 2026 when a coaching change happens. I would root for him wherever he goes though. His story is too inspiring.Oh man his play style would be amazing in Hodgson's system
Sick. Can we get him to change his name again maybe?FWIW, I believe there is optimism should Kingz request an extra year.
Hopefully, the significant loss of revenue has served as a wake up call. Always late to the party...Agreed, salary compensation will not be an issue, total financial support is the issue some have.
If hodgson is the coach yes if hop is the coach not a shotVery good q.
