Coach Search Options after Autry

Im not advocating for it, just sharing a message that I’ve heard relentlessly from the actual decision makers and donors. Its the world we find ourselves in, and SU constantly being behind the ball yet again finds itself making this decision far more consequential than it already would have been. I hate it too.
I agree, but they are overthinking it.

Our current reality disagrees with you, and it's not like Hop has shown ANYTHING that might make anyone think otherwise.

Your appeal to authority here is actually just a group of people who can be as dumb as anyone else.
Current reality as described by you. Or an opinion.

My appeal to authority is to those who know tremendously more than you and me combined and have their name eternally recognized for it. I never said I liked it. Im not advocating for it. It’s just the temperature in the room of those who are actually there.

The counter argument is that USF isn’t the same level as ACC (obviously) so has Hodgson proven he has won at the highest level? Some say no so you have unproven versus failure. What does everyone prefer ?
Dusty May, Todd Golden, Ryan Odom. Most of the top coaches hadn't proven themselves at a P4 conference, but showed a lot at the mid-major level. How many with the Hopkins-type resume are doing well?

If he got hired he would need to verbally use his press conference to describe his offensive and defensive systems and if there is no philosophical shift he's DOA.

I think coaches and admins underestimate how smart the average fan is now. There's so many great data tools. You can't BS a lot of people as much.
^^^This all the way.

You cannot compare a team’s resume in the American Conference to an ACC team. That 52 in the Net that you are downplaying is THE HIGHEST NET RANKING IN PROGRAM HISTORY for them.

Oh, and by the way, that win over Utah State is a top 25 win on both Kenpom and in the Net.
The Guppy has fewer quad 1 wins than Red Autry!!!!

And the facts behind his success at USF are that he has a NET of 52, his best wins are at home against Utah State and at Tulsa and USF has more Q3 losses than Syracuse this year.
Not saying he wouldn’t be very successful here because I don’t know. But the facts are the facts. He’s had a very good mid major season but if he loses in the conference tournament he’ll be watching the NCAAs just like us.

Tulsa and Utah State would probably both beat Syracuse this year if they played. They’re better coached and legitimate mid major teams. Tulsa can shoot the lights out from 3.

You mean Romar’s players that went 9-23 the year before Hop and ignoring that four of the top eight players on Hop’s first team were freshmen? Let’s do a little research before we post.
Even more impressive that Hop took “Romar’s players” from nine wins to 27 in two years, isn’t it?

You just made my point for me.
Again.

Romar = elite recruiter, crap coach.

Hop = meh at both.

Hop’s meh was enough to elevate a bunch of future NBA players to winning seasons.

Once the elite talent dried up, his meh coaching led to those results.

There isn’t a stable of NBA talent awaiting him here at Cuse.

And he’s been out of the east coast crootin game for ages now.

Utah state is a pretty good win though? If its not then Schertz is going to have a hard time finding a job with his best win being against Santa Clara

To me this is starting to read like Hop has the lead and the gaslighting of why he is just as solid of an option as Hodgson has begun. University can do no wrong!
Nah nobody knows anything. Hopefully this search can carry on professionally and doesn’t turn into a distraction. Gupster has a big game against…. (checks schedule)…. Tulane to prepare for.

Sounds like a good option for Merrimack when their coach gets poached, and there's nothing wrong with or insulting about that at all.

Oh, the season is a success?

Hurry, tell the AD so we can call off the coaching search!

Good lord man, you're not even trying to have an honest discussion here.
Red’s not being retained. What about last season is relevant?

You share the opinion of most fans, which is justified. Its a fans opinion though. Im sharing the opinion of those who have performed the job successfully and either acclimated to NIL and the portal, or retired.

What kind of grown man calls himself the Shark?????

Jerry Tarkanian says hi!!

Also - Greg Norman.

But otherwise…

...and twice Sunday.

Yes Hodgson has won everywhere he's been but but but he hasn't won at the highest level!

So we have to either go the alumni route or pull someone from the $EC or B1G? That's the binary choice?

Get real.
What about Jones or Mac Mullen?

Again, he Isaiah Stewart, Nahz Carter, and Jaden McDaniels and went 15-17! The recruiting dried up after that. Can you blame anyone.
