Coach Search Options after Autry

I’m amazed by 200 plus pages and very little mention of James Arthur Boeheim.

Is it remotely possible that the guy with the largest mouth in CNY hasn’t leaked to his national boys who he wants. Is he that pot committed to red Autry to the bitter end?

This entire situation is classic Syracuse.

Didn't Dash or Bulldog mention a number pages back that JAB is in the Team MeloHop camp?

I would think he'd be involved wrangling his big donor supporters (to some degree at least) if the $30 mil figure is remotely true.

A for effort, but the optics during games were bad most of the time. People not paying attention, on their phones, yawning looking bored or left early. The product on the court was bad most of the time as well, I can't say I blame them
Definitely hard to keep someone's attention if not a fan. Jimmy Fallon had fun, but he's a fan.

Are the decision makers really that naive/obtuse? Fanbase will be gone forever if they follow thru
They're humans being who are subject to the same biases and flaws that we all have.

The issue is that, without a rigorous process led by someone universally respected, those biases and flaws may yield a lousy outcome.

My concern is that there's no real process, just cliques doing their own thing and fighting for control.

4. Add in Herms job. People are forgetting that. AD, coach, chancellor and Herms position. Wild wild times
Could be the reason they go with Lyke. Too much uncertainty and a bigger need to focus on coach and Chancellor roles. Make it easy and use who is right there?

I think I’m feeling a little better about the AD search. No inside info. The ad search committee has tirico on it. I dont think he would let this happen. In addition they have hired a search firm, which dives into candidates backgrounds. I would hope and think they would uncover all the nasty stuff at Pitt on Lyke.

Maybe I’m too optimistic, I’m hoping these two factors prevent Lyke from being the next AD.
Same. Paying a consultant although prob expensive takes the burden off the board members annoying one side or another. I don't see how the Consultant doesn't advise against Lyke either.

Either way votes are votes. There may be people voting outside the facts blaring in their face.

Good managers try to put people in a position that give the best opportunity to succeed. That makes the managers job easier and more successful. If the person or persons doing the hiring are unaffected. By the hire, they will hire their mother in law. Just to keep peace.

The games aren't an event anymore. Plus, not only is Melo probably embarrassed to bring people to the games, but how many of you have tried inviting people this year. RIGHT NOW, PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO SEE AN INFERIOR PRODUCT PLAY BASKETBALL. OK, done shouting.

At least when Weitsman brought celebs, it seemed liked the Dome was more electric.
I will die on the hill that Tom Brady is NOT a celebrity ha. Unable to beat the Giants in a Super Bowl. I hope if he ever does come back that someone brings Tyree next to the game and they make them sit together then show the helmet catch up the big board over and over.

I’m amazed at how long our program has been in the doldrums and the path we took to get here. The bright side is that all it takes to right the ship is selecting the right coach who can recruit and COACH.

We will lose a lot of players in the coming months, we have no ‘26 recruits, and Syracuse is not an attractive destination. A respected coach who can attract talent, keep talent (Kiyan, White, Freeman) and bring talent with him is very important.

I'm not sure that's in the old man's wheelhouse to learn that game.
week high quality GIF

And when Brady was the QB at Michigan, our Donovan Mcnabb lead team went to Michigan and beat them; we own Brady!

I don’t believe any NIL will come with Hop. I believe riches are being hinted at, but won’t come to fruition, particularly for the long term. Why? Because those people promising conditional funding don’t care about SU.

This is a great point. You can't make the hire based on what might happen if Hop is coach. We might get lots of NIL. We might get great assistants.

Hire the best basketball coach and figure the other stuff after.

Exactly

I'm a 50+ year die hard Giants fan who basks in reality that Eli beat Brady twice. And, I do like Brady and I do like listening to him as the color guy. So much better than the ex-Cowboys mouth pieces or that loud mouth Collinsworth.

And my definition of die hard is someone who watches every single game, even in seasons that are in such doom and gloom that you know the coach is going to be fired less than halfway thru the season.

And I've seen it happen a lot more for Big Blue over these years than Syracuse, but people shouldn't stop watching Syracuse play. The victories taste a lot sweeter after you've watched them play at their lowest.

Besides, what are you guys doing instead during this long winter. You can't tell me you've taken Buzz Shaw's advice and gotten a life.

It's always fun to compare the SU selection process to when I ran for 3rd grade class president.

They have to avoid the trap of appearing ro come out against women and making it clear that they are moving against incompetence by any administrator.

It's funny that there's all this hand wringing by the old guard about how Syracuse is a poor school that couldn't possibly compete with other schools and their coterie of billionaires for premier coaching hires, staff and players.

A few weeks later and SU has ... a coterie of billionaires and multi-millionaires jockeying to influence hires to key positions. Unfortunately, they are not premier coaches and staff but retreads, friends, and other schools' problems.

Syracuse isn't a poor school, they just make poor decisions.

I’m guessing this whole mess is the exact thing some of our insiders were insinuating when they said there wasn’t as much interest fo this job as one would think.
I don’t know. I think that was overblown. I wonder if some of that is fueled by expectations that we could land a current accommplished P5 coach who is looking for a change of scenery. I have a feeling that some of them think that tip mid-major coaches are beneath us.

Chancellor maybe? But the AD is far more critical to the future of sports on the hill… if any.
