No. Me either. Just replying to the “surprise” coach possibilityHe's proven he doesn't need much money, and he's Midwest through and through. Don't get me wrong. He's a great coach and would love to have him. Just don't see it happening.
Hodgson should be significantly less expensive than Schertz - I hope they don't panic and give him, or anyone else, a fat, overblown, 7 year contract like SEC FB schools. We absolutely have the money to hire schertz or hodgson I don’t care what anyone says
James Jones and Kimani young are very hard passesIf that’s the list, we’re in good shape. High quality options.
No one wants to hear it because Gerry isnt JB, and this isn't the same era of basketball that JB coached in. His disciples struggled before the game changed, and its not too much of a stretch to think they will continue to struggle in this new era. I get people want gerry because he is local legend but can we really not see any reason that we might want to increase our aperture a bit to get a coach who is statistically better?Nobody wants to hear this, but it's true.
LOL. If that's your logic, then all the more reason to hire him. He doesn't need high end talent to win.Indiana st and st louis have not had real talent on their rosters.
I never said I want Gerry necessarily. My point was Hodgson hasn't proven much more than Gerry has as a head coach. No one wants to hear it because Gerry isnt JB, and this isn't the same era of basketball that JB coached in. No, I mean he probably will be great anywhere he goes. But there is always the chance he doesn’t recruit that well in a real conference.LOL. If that's your logic, then all the more reason to hire him. He doesn't need high end talent to win.
This.Luke Murray is known as the brains behind the invigorated Uconn Offense. What's the Khimani Young selling point?
Believe it or not, Hodgson has a guy who is his offensive guru… Tee Butters. Will be a hot commodity in a few yrsLuke Murray is known as the brains behind the invigorated Uconn Offense. What's the Khimani Young selling point?

I think SaveSUHoops is Bryan Hodgson's relative. Pretty obvious! Good luck to you and BH in the American Tournament.I never said I want Gerry necessarily. My point was Hodgson hasn't proven much more than Gerry has as a head coach.
I don’t understand how you could possibly compare the situations. Completely different coaching carousel situation, completely different circumstances involving hiring processes at other positions above the HC, etc. he also states he doesn’t even know how far along they are. Some things suggest they may already know their guy. It’s just fluid is what I’m saying, and it’s hard to compare these things regardless.I gotta say I don’t love this. Indiana had already identified their guy Darian Devries by this point last year and was well down the track with him. Same with Iowa and Ben McCollum. If they’re truly considering anyone but Hodgson or Schertz, the powers that be are a mess and should all be replaced. I hope Haynie prefers Hodgson and will put his fingers on the scale. And I hope these are just names being floated for optics to show they’re casting a wide net and doing due diligence. I wonder if insiders can confirm that?

Young is the assistant head coach and loved by his players. Played under Haskins, UConn defensive coordinator and guard coach. Considered an elite recruiter. He grew up in Queens. I brought his name up a few weeks ago. If you can’t get BH or JS he would be near the top of the next group for me.Luke Murray is known as the brains behind the invigorated Uconn Offense. Hodgson has 3 winning seasons and 2 regular season championships at two different schools... Yeah he didnt win the conference tournament yet but the consistency is there.I never said I want Gerry necessarily. My point was Hodgson hasn't proven much more than Gerry has as a head coach.
