I am going to believe GMAC knows what he's doing and that he knows he can't win here with MAAC players... Until/if he gives me reason to believe otherwise and brings a cadre of Siena players with him... But I doubt that happens (Doty excluded).

I read the articles as saying they were hoping the resources were top third in the ACC. It didn't sound iron clad. And how could it be if we don't know what other teams are going to spend?

Couple people in the thread said they know for a fact that Doty, Foleface, and Moesch are coming. Obviously they could be wrong.

lol man all I want is Syracuse to win that’s it. I am very analytical thinker it’s what makes me very good at my job. The analytics drive people crazy because it doesn’t always factor in things people like. I wanted a bunch of different coaches but GMac is the hire so I now will support him just like I did Red and JB. I will use analytic approach to pick apart his portal players just like always (I did say Nait wasn’t going to be good when we signed him).

I agree but IMO you're coming on strong being kind of a jerk. Lot of people have been here a long time and went through all the JB b.s. trying to exert his control and feel the same thing is happening now. I love Gmac and I want him to be successful but it's fair to question whether he's had enough experience to get it done at this level.

Either way, we're all SU fans and this is a huge, huge choice by SU.

My point is when a bunch of different people from different sources tell me money is pouring in if it is Gerry and the A.D. says NiL is the key and he hires Gerry, I think it is 1+1 =2 But you might be right so ...

This is based on nothing. Sorry but Hodgson coached at 4 different schools and was successful at each.

Gerry has coached at two, and his first stint as an assistant, for us, was the worst time in the last 60 years for the program.

He might turn out great, but Hodgson is so much more proven.
And Hodgson turning us down tells the market (i.e. other candidates) that we don't have the money to compete.

Boeheim did us no favors with that crap on TV, about us being "bottom 3" in the ACC in NIL.

We have MANY long time knowledgeable people who were directly involved in our efforts who shared LOTS of information about it all.

If we pick Gerry, it's still a huge risk. I'd rather take the Offensive Guru assistant from UConn than Gerry, to be honest. Better technical coaching talent.

based on nothing? I actually watch these guys coach, it's my livelihood. Gerry is a better coach. Does that mean he can run a program better? recruit better? sell better? of course not. but in between the lines? I have no dog in the fight, but It's Gerry. notice I said this before Hodgson was clueless in a half court setting in the NCAA's and only started to get back into it once down 23 and it turned to chaos. He needs a stacked deck to work with, he is a recruiter - a really good one - but nothing more. You can argue if that is simply more valuable in today's game and that'd be fair, but my point stands.

I can't even begin to express how much I envy the people who are capable of just popping in and being like "Awesome hire, amazing resume, awesome analytics, he's gonna be great, what are you all complaining about?"

God, you guys must be so much happier and so much less frustrated than me most of the time. Meanwhile, I'm over here feeling gaslit by a lot of the arguments being made and dreading the worst for the program, no matter how badly I want it to work out.

We have a guy who can coach and reinstate accountability/respect for the program.

It was put best already by Cusefan0307 , our floor’s much higher now.

What’s important now is putting together a staff, winning Kingz’ appeal assuming he’s open to staying, and finding a quality GM.

We all do. Some are just expressing their concerns in some middling to extreme way. Especially after being pumped that maybe we were for once, doing a real national search and had the money to come up with a big name. Just a let down. I can say, there isn't one person on this board who isn't a Gmac fan. Nobody can take away what he means to every SU fan, especially ones who were old enough to watch the year we won the championship. That was a special team and that season was amazing.
