Coach Search Options after Autry

Isn't this the perfect year to part ways with Autry? We have Melo highly involved. Melo can be part of the process to some degree and we keep the NIL funds rolling in.

I've seen enough. Still no discipline and offensive system. I will say the defense has improved. However, Red is in over his head. I feel bad for him. Down one at half and it's a 30pt game. We couldn't defend a simple high/low on defense.

Yes needs to happen this year. Have melo be a consultant and advocate.

Is it too early to start the Coach Search Options After Gmac thread? I feel like we still need to trudge through that before we might hire a coach from outside of the highly illustrious Boeheim tree. Yay!

I don't know, part of me wants them to go really outside the box. Jason Leone at Oswego is down the road, he's a psycho on the court but his players love playing for him and he's a flat out winner and nobody has anything bad to say about him.

As an O State grad I applaud his mention. Let's go outside the box and overpay for a proven winner.

Last year was perfect, there was so many quality coaches on the market last year.

He recruits, he coaches, and he wins. Yes it's the d3 level but he's a CBA grad and also a big Cuse fan who knows how important Cuse basketball is to the area. 3 years ago he beat the defending national champs on their home court in the sweet 16 and snapped their 60+ home court win streak. A "down" year for him is a 17-9 record.

As an aside, Fulton native, Kevin Broderick was the coach who turned in Oswego State into a basketball winner many years ago. Record wise were one the the worst teams in all Division 3 for many years. He has also been successful at Nazareth as well.

in less than 48 hours, we go from thinking we have a good shot at the Tourney to already revisiting this.

And it's not really surprising. Bad coaches are bad coaches, it is what it is.
That’s where I am now. JB would have won at least two of those games. Tough to defend, I just had no confidence AA could out coach any of those guys on the other side this week. And he didn’t

These guys have gone to coaching clinics for 30 years. Played at a high level. Coached under a Hall of Fame coach and we have to listen to you tell us what he is doing wrong every single moment of every game

All that pedigree and yet still can't do something basic as a positive ATO situation on either end of the court.

Autry has been given 2.5 years to prove that he can’t coach.

But any suggestion other than a proven D1 head coach to replace Red is laughable.
Get an up and comer that’s winning at a slightly lower level. Great recruiter with a great system. And JB should have no part of the coaching search. Clean break from the JB era.

Maybe go the NBA route. BYU did and it’s worked great for them. Of course they had a ton of money to spend as well. Utah also went the NBA route.
If Carmelo Anthony is involved he definitely has a Rolodex of NBA guys at his disposal.
I don’t know, just a thought.

I have a very good mid major name that I want to share when I have time to put together a post about him. I think he could be the next Hurley, Pat Kelsey, Ben McCollum, Darian Devries type from the mid major level ready to take the next step.

To be fair--as a midwesterner--the midwest is basically fentanyl, corn, and post-industrialization wasteland. We might just get him.

Edit: Parts of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota are the exception.
The Midwest:
