I am not down on Syracuse. I love Syracuse. I am just realistic from what I am hearing from people that do know. It really is that simple. As a matter of fact, I haven't posted 90% of what I have been told because 1. I don't need the aggravation from people who don't know what I have been told and they attack me for it and 2 I don't want to drop any neutron bombs on the board.
Dasher how does or what does he run offensively. Is he our same offense now or is it different. What is his best quality as head coach. If this is all answered properly, I would have 0 issues with him here. Just don’t want the same boring offense. Tough defense with grit and can u imagine o coaching Kyle up in the middle. Damn.

What? Can you clarify this? Top 25 in all of D1? In what categories?
In 2025 they were the #25 most efficient defense via synergy and kenpom and #1 in their conference

they have also have finished #1 in their conference in defense efficiency the last three years.

i wasn’t exactly right but do you see my point ? watch the video it’s interesting if you like X and O’s

Honestly maybe for some it would be explosive but I find it hard to believe a neutron bomb exists given the state of things. Outside the school basically bailing on making hoops a focus and chasing football success with the hope one day hoops might follow nothing else , maybe not even that, would be all that surprising given the madness we live in with this era

Bomb away Dash. There will be some trolls, but most guys here will appreciate it.

Can you re-post the video you are referring to? I’d like to geek out on his defensive system and compare him to Vince Kehres 😉

Have we considered handing the reigns to Allen Griffen? His works with our guards this year has been stellar.

I'm not defending or advocating for GMAC, but if you give him a better budget than Hop, he's getting better players. The game has changed dramatically... Gerry actually has done a decent job getting talent to Siena since he's been there.

MAAC to ACC is hardly lateral.
I agree. Some people think bc is Massasoit community.

Massive booster base. They haven’t chased good money after bad so far. Gonna need proof of concept there. An Irish kid named McNamara sounds on brand. Haven’t had it since Jimmy Obrien

Not to mention why wouldn’t Gerry want to live in Wellesley or Newton vs Albany area? It’s a no brainer no matter what the cost of living is. He would be paid well enough to afford a nice house

And they’ll still get a better coach than GMac.
They are gonn hire Gatto imo but Gerry should get an interview in addition to Hopkins. BC would love to be 65% of what Syracuse basketball has been

I think you continue to underestimate how much the BC boosters are going to have to immediately step up with NIL before a decent coach signs on. As Cstate posted, that's what GMac demanded before he even took the Siena job.

I'd love to hear your reasoning why it's a no brainer. I would take Albany or Syracuse over Boston any day. There are plenty of nice neighborhoods in the Capital Region and CNY to offset anything Boston can offer.

I can see him in the running for BC. Irish Catholic boy well known to their fan base. Louis Orr did something similar from Siena

BC job is a career killer. He would do better to move to Penn State, which has lower expectations / lower pressure, or at a school in the Atlantic 10, somebody like LaSalle or St. Joe's.

Have also lived in all three places. Agree that Capital Region and CNY might have specific draws for Gerry given family/community ties, but Boston with money is a totally different experience. Boston is a major city and Chestnut Hill is gorgeous, offers great schools, and easy access to all of New England and NY.

First of all I believe the intel that Gerry is a contender. That's what you get when you are a program legend, a national champion and someone who bled these colors for years. He'll get an interview and a real shot I have no doubt. I also just need to agree with the other posters that are saying that his resume doesn't scream SU HC job. Lets be real Gerry is getting an interview because he is GMac and that is fine! Take another HC in the MAC like Dan Geriot at Iona. One of the best teams in the recent history of the MAAC like Siena is. If Geriot goes 31-26 in two years at Iona hes not sniffing the Cuse job. Gerry took over a terrible team yes. But he didn't take over a terrible program. Siena needed new blood but the infrastructure was there. Bring in a name like GMac some more dollars and you should be able to be top half of that conference immediately.

This viewpoint takes some nuance which is tough on a message board when we're living two sentences at a time. But I think its fair to root for Gerry and want him to succeed (as I do)... while also admitting to ourselves that if his name wasnt GMac we would be shocked he's even getting an interview. To be clear... his name is GMac, so, as I said, to start, I think he's a real contender. My personal belief is his tenure at Siena is helpful but not the primary reason he's going to be getting a call.

Wow! Who knew being an alleged "rock star" on a relatively anonymous sports fanatics board could carry so much weight on you. If what you say is accurate, please consider a deep breath or ten for health's sake, and try not to take yourself so seriously here.

Moreover, thank you for displaying some serious restraint. I can only imagine how long it would take for such a recovery/board rebuild by you dropping such destruction here. ;)

Unnecessary shots like this are why posters like Dash - one of THE most connected and historically accurate insiders on the bball board - are reluctant to post most of what they know to the general board.

But, I'm sure he is appreciative of your concern for his medical and psychological well-being.

Good grief!

There wasn't any mention in my post of questioning his resume, etc.

Something that's for "sure." One's own thinking is the sole property of its owner.

You are either underestimating the intelligence of the Board or overestimating your own.

At least be intellectual honest with yourself. Negative characterizations like "alleged rock star," and "try not to take yourself so seriously" sure seemed derogatory in intent. But yup, you did not question his "resume."

BC does not have the resources for basketball. It’s not a great P5 job. Maybe it could become mid with the right coach. But it doesn’t have anywhere near Syracuse’s ceiling. I can’t believe we’re arguing about this. I just went to the BC-SU game there, and more than half the arena was Syracuse fans, and that’s usually the case. And we’re not even that good this year.
