Coach Search Options after Autry

Don't be stupid here people! Hire a proven damn head basketball coach. Enough with these stupid experiments!!! Get someone proven that can recruit and win and has a great system that has shown results in d1 basketball. How is that not common sense among some of you.

If it’s Hopkins I’ll ask for a refund on my season tickets. I want him less than Gerry.
Maybe by floating Hop they’re expecting beer sales to be through the roof at the dome. I could see myself drinking 3-4X more labatts with him coaching.

If Hop gets chosen over Hodgson my belief that the school isn't trying and only wants to cash checks will be in cement.
I don't believe that to be the case. If they pick Hopkins, I don't think they will, but if they do, it will be because they think he can raise the most dough and that he is the best guy for the job. We can disagree. But we shouldn't question their motives. The school wants to win.

You do know that no one here, I mean no one here, is doing the hiring of the next coach. You understand that, right?

Hop is a candidate, but make no mistake about it, having his name out there as an option helps the university in negotiations with Hodgson.

Hop is getting a lot of play among alumni and BOT members. I agree though I don't see SU going that route that ship has sailed for the general fan and I think would be a massive uphill climb to sell to the fanbase. I think they powers that be at SU agree.

Just for fun, what if Hop could raise 25 million for NIL? Would that change your mind?

And the university knows that WINNING is the only thing long term that will fill the Dome again.

I'm relieved to hear your report.

Just offer Scheyer $10 million a year. Then you’re serious. Does anyone think he would leave Duke? He is not that highly paid at Duke. I think he’s around $3.5 million.

What flavor was that gummy you just took? Got another? Lol (lovingly I say this)

Interesting question. Depends The delta between what Hodgson can bring in. If that’s a 15M difference, I dump $ into a proven staff for him.

Yes. But we both know that will never happen and Hodgson will bring more money from Lallys.
And that wasn't my question. Obviously almost everyone on the board wants BH. The question is how much money would make a difference? And would it make a difference. Not to mention the Lally's haven't given a dime to hoop yet. We are hoping that if they get a coach they like, they will.

Yes and that's his major selling point. The flip side is SU is worried it would crater tickets among the general fanbase. Heard that his last few years at Washington are causing pause among the powers that be. I do agree that his ability to raise NIL is likely #1 but I think the time for him has passed. Hard to fire Red for a guy with essentially the same track record save 1 year

How about my question? If the Saudi Prince said hire Hopkins and I will give 25 million for NIL.
It depends for me on what hodgson could bring in by way of comparison, if he is indeed the other top competitor for the job.

Because I squarely believe that nil donations will come in if The coach demonstrates that they can right the ship, and the product on the court improves.

We've already tried to go down the road of raising lots of money to offset the coaches glaring limitations.

Personally, I don't think it's an either or dichotomy. I think we need a coach who has a proven track record of success, who can get things back on track and get the fan base. Excited again, and then nil will result.

But I don't see the path to success being us trying to outspend SEC teams. I'd rather pick a different lane, and supplement with NIL / the portal.

Out of curiosity: does anyone know if Lally is currently donating NIL to South Florida? I know they have season tickets.
