People were convinced about Dan Mullen too.
He was a great coach for us.
For the length of that thread, anyway.

Position for a seat at the Big Boy Table when they split from the NCAA for football and lobby congress for a CBAAnd they know it but I don't think they know what to do about it.
Who is saying it won’t happen? I think each of us trying to share info believe Hodgson is the clear top choice. Likely to be wrapped up soon.
He never lost a game here.He was a great coach for us.

Congress is going to do something eventually. Pols in both parties have been speaking to it since Indiana won the CFB playoff. Pretty sure schools are lobbying their senators. And they know it but I don't think they know what to do about it.
I don't know for sure but I think we will be very competitive on the money front. We quite frankly, have to be.
It is. Very depressing. Maybe once the deed is done, there will be more interest. But I have to think agents know the dye is cast.So it really is a matter of lack of interest from quality candidates??
Not gonna lie, that's a bit depressing... But we've made this bed, so...
I’m starting to think the tourney will expand to 96 or hell 128 teams before collective bargaining happens or some sort of legislation. At the end of the day all of this is sort of a moot point. The booster funded NIL model is not sustainable but for a handful of programs. Corporate donors have to get involved or their needs to be collective bargaining. I have no idea how this shakes out, but the collegiate sports model is teetering on extinction for many schools.
That might bring in great players but donations will dry up if he doesn’t win.Just for fun, what if Hop could raise 25 million for NIL? Would that change your mind?

Might not be "better" so much as avoiding a negative situation that could drag him down.Curious what “better” jobs Gmac thinks he could get? Blue bloods? Nope. I guess a higher paying bottom third big ten team? Dont wanna sound like a doosh but it seems to me he is bitter about the last hire going to Red and he knows hes not a real candidate this go round
Would guess Skinn will try to get the Gtown or UMD gig. Schertz is going to some SEC/BIG bidder.
So it's Hodg or bust.
And the dysfunction on the hill has a well known stink that many are steering clear from... What a time to be alive.
“I don't want someone who has no previous ties to our recruiting area, Schertz will not work coming here.”I don't want someone who has no previous ties to our recruiting area, Schertz will not work coming here. And after 10+ years of bad results the next coach has to hit the ground running and make the tournament.
No more waiting for 2 or 3 years to see if we have the right guy.
Notre Dame maybe, but that's arguable.Curious what “better” jobs Gmac thinks he could get? Blue bloods? Nope. I guess a higher paying bottom third big ten team? Norlander knows his stuff. Most of these schools are below SU. We are ahead of even the SEC schools, where a coach like Schertz or Hodgson could get buried. Whereas at Cuse they could quickly move to the top of the ACC. Imo, Ohio State and Oregon won’t open til next season at the earliest.I think Oregon and OSU will be topping this list soon. Actually agree with LSU being so low; not sure if they are going to try and go all-out for bball like some of the other SEC schools have been.
Agree. Significant number of posters here doubted Red could actually successfully follow JB and rebuild the program. He was never anybody’s first choice. Despite his selection, he was still given support and had every chance to succeed.Disagree most understand the follow up to JB was never gonna be easy. If SU goes full national the interest will absolutely be there.
I’m about to watch this ISU byu game and continue to check the board all night while having carrot cake. Perfect night lolIt’s late Saturday night and we’re all here discussing this. We need lives.
Can I safely assume the other alum is Jason Hart?I can say Hop is in play (and another SU alumni) and his ability to raise NIL is his main selling point. I still think it will be an outside hire but he's absolutely in the mix and not gonna go quietly ie NIL
Gdammit, if I have to live to 90 to see Syracuse bball great again, I’ll do it! I won’t like it, but I’ll do it.Believe me, I'm not doing that. I don't want Hopkins or Gerry. I'm glad everything worked out for you health wise. That is what matters. And I also have less years left to get us back to games in March that matters.
