Coach Search Options after Autry

I can say Hop is in play (and another SU alumni) and his ability to raise NIL is his main selling point. I still think it will be an outside hire but he's absolutely in the mix and not gonna go quietly ie NIL
Can I safely assume the other alum is Jason Hart?

Or is it Devin Brennan-McBride?

Believe me, I'm not doing that. I don't want Hopkins or Gerry. I'm glad everything worked out for you health wise. That is what matters. And I also have less years left to get us back to games in March that matters.
Gdammit, if I have to live to 90 to see Syracuse bball great again, I’ll do it! I won’t like it, but I’ll do it.

well, it isn't valued at what we all we would have thought seeing who is interested right now from what I hear. I'm surprised and sad about it.
Well, let’s gauge who you would think would be a good hire for Syracuse. Who would have been your top three or five realistic options before you started hearing things? It’s helpful to understand your perspective on who a good (realistic) coaching hire would be.

I also assume he is still annoyed that he was passed on three years ago.
Exactly. And that’s where I bet these silly “Gmac might not take the job” rumors are coming from. I can hear JB or Gerry’s dad or any other number of Gmac friends or BOT supporters saying those exact words/pushing that narrative. Which would be completely agenda driven and not all based in what would actually happen if Gmac was a more proven commodity and the school wholeheartedly wanted him as the next head coach. Of course he would take the job if offered. He’s simply not ready right now. I suspect a few stakeholders are pushing certain narratives that I will politely call hogwash.

Hopkins wouldn't be a disaster, we could do worse, it's also not an inspiring hire. This university needs to realize it's time to move on from the Boeheim Tree.
Hop would be the equivalent of Indiana hiring Mike Woodson. Foolishness. I love Hop but you can’t go this route right now until he proves himself elsewhere. We have to go outside the program and hire the best mid major coach available and pony up the $$. It’s not that hard. We literally haven’t hired a coach from outside the program since Fred Lewis in the 1960s. It’s time to move into the modern era and grow up as an athletic department.

Was

Was I not clear. Think say 12 years ago. Who would have wanted our job at that time. Now, the names I am hearing, it makes me shudder. And while the board is in love with BH, I think part of that is that he 1. isn't Red. And 2. gets his team to play hard. But 12 or 13 years ago, would a guy that hasn't one a game in the NCAA tournament be enough? I don't think so. And the other candidates, oh boy. I am actually glad the rest of the board isn't hearing the things I am. I said before, I would share them but it would be a neutron bomb to the board.
I hope the Dome having the biggest crowd in College Basketball today, even with recent down years, is something Wildhack can sell to prospective coaches

Hop is getting a lot of play among alumni and BOT members. I agree though I don't see SU going that route that ship has sailed for the general fan and I think would be a massive uphill climb to sell to the fanbase. I think they powers that be at SU agree.
Clearly, some of the BOT needs to go. The fact that some of them pressured Wildhack to hire Red and are still loyal to and listen to JB is a problem. Maybe some of them aren’t up to the task of righting the athletics ship, and even the academics have been suffering.

They didn’t listen to him when he advised them to hire Gerry , did they?

I’ve learned today that a program that has a fan base that just produced the highest attended game this year in college basketball despite a bad team is garnering little interest from sought after coaches. I really find this hard to believe.
