Considering the times we are living in it’s apparent wealthy people make stupid decisions all the time. What if the big $$$ backs Lykes and Hopper?

My first thought to this is it’s probably a carryover from how Red was hired. Several folks emphasized it was not Wildhack who hired Red or, at least, his decision was highly influenced by the BoT, Boeheim situation, etc. to the point his hands were tied.Just thinking, most of us think BH is the clear leader in the club house for the job. Yet, no one here has any idea who will be making the decision on the job. Since we don't know who will be making the decision, how can we think we know who they will pick? Just a thought.

I don't get where Hop's power base is coming from? Old timers who want to reward him for being the good soldier when he got screwed over by JB? I assume we are giving him the courtesy of a conversation and will hire a much more modern candidate - at least for hoops coach. Again the AD hire is more important to me.
Carmelo Anthony earned approximately $262.5 million to $266 million in NBA salary over his 19-season career, ranking among the top 50 all-time highest-paid players. Including lucrative endorsements with brands like Nike (Jordan Brand), his total career earnings exceeded $410 million by his retirement in 2023.First, I would question how the big $$$$ got the big $$$$. Second, hopefully we get the same luck with Lykes and Hopper that they did getting the big $$$$.
My first thought was that if we are worried about Hop beating us twice a year at B.C., are in bigger trouble than I fear we are. My second thought is that I'm not worried about Hop beating us with his coaching which should tell me at least, he isn't the guy we should hire.I would certainly hope that’s the case. But what’s the leverage play for Hop then at BC? He may beat us twice a year if he’s named HC there? There must be some sort of financial metric tied to it.
It's funny you should say that. I have a friend on the BOT. I am really hoping they don't ask me for my advice on this.the selection is going to be made by a committee of su fans. they are going to ask you to head up that committee.![]()
Just tell them we have our own board and we can handle it from here …. lolIt's funny you should say that. I have a friend on the BOT. I am really hoping they don't ask me for my advice on this.

Believe he finished 2nd to JW in 2016.

John described the process during his interview on Orange Nation the day his retirement was announced. He will make the recommendation to the Chancellor and the BoT Athletics Committee led by Steve Ballentine. First decision is whether to retain or replace the current coach. Following that and assuming Red is not retained I would expect a search committee would be named and will start with any succession plan John has drafted. He said early on that one of his core responsibilities is to maintain a succession plan for all of his key staff. I would expect individuals on that plan for men’s basketball have already been approached via back channels/agents and background checks may have been initiated. Committee’s recommendation would be presented to the AD, the Chancellor and the BoT for approval.I'm sure that Wildhack and the BOT understand the urgency of making the move and filling the spot almost immediately. I don't see how they push off making a decision no matter which candidate they choose. So, either Wildhack works in conjunction with the BOT, or the BOT takes full responsibility.
I don't see that Wildhack would be making any decisions on his own right now, but he could be part of the decision making process.
