Coach Search Options after Autry

I think we are around 4-5 mil without rev share and 8-9 mil overall with money left on the table, so when you account for Red not spending everything he could, I do think we are in T2 on that made-up tier list graph for whatever it is worth.
Look no one knows exactly where we land on the exact ranking, but this is a high end tier 2 roster, comfortable saying that. If Syracuse is paying tier 3 money (which they are clearly not), they are technically getting bargain deals. No way Syracuse is getting bargain deals especially after the 14-19 season. I don't care how good of a recruiter Red is.

This can’t even be close to true lol. More like high end of tier 2. What gets alloted in rev share alone gets Syracuse close to out of Tier 3.

I think we would have more donations if people didn't think they'd be burning their money with an incompetent coach. Why would anyone donate to get great players with Red? It's proven to be a waste.

They had enough support this season to have the best team so far in this decade. If people were fully confident in the coaching who knows where Syracuse could fall on the NIL ranking scale. Syracuse can never outcompete Duke in dollars, that's it for the conference.

I'd only take Hop if he brought Murray as his offensive coordinator and promised he would find a good assistant to install a modern defense. So yeah, not sold on Hop bringing anything other than donor support and good feelings with trustees.

Just look at Kentucky. Tons of NIL and high priced players.

A warchest is no guarantee. You need great coaches and you need players that buy-in and fit together.
I think half of the battle of more is the buying onto the program. teams need to be greater than the sum of their parts. The current SU edition has a lot of very good players, some who are excellent at one or two things. They see to get along well. They have had a couple of wonderful moments but too many bad ones. Most people think it is due to coaching and that could well be the problem, not necessarily the problem it could simply be that the pieces do not fit together well. In the NIL era there are plenty of examples of big roster turnover and success but just as many examples of failure. Assuming Red is gone, who knows which if any players stay, who puts the roster together, and how it plays together will be interesting next year.

A "catch up through key plays/posts" feature like YTTV or AI summary would be awesome for threads like these.

The JB era finally needs to end, alums be damned. Hop & Kiyan would be Red & JJ 2.0. Definition of insanity.

Just go to google gemini and past the link to this thread. It'll give you a summary.

I think that Hop would make a great coach for Syracuse. Booster money will be there for him
Wow-7 dislikes. That's got to be a record here. Why do you think he would "make a great coach for Syracuse" when he struggled so much at Washington with some very good NBA-to be players?

Thanks. Not bad. Just need to focus the prompt on certain posters to really get what I want.

Yep, it's not terrible. The other thing is it will be better on the initial response if it's a more fully recent thread. This thread dates back a bit so the topics meander.

I love Mike Hopkins. I LOVE Gerry McNamara. If Bryan Hodgson isn't the next coach of Syracuse basketball it will be a gigantic mistake. If he's not the next coach because Hopkins or McNamara is instead, it will be an all timer. Syracuse is fortunate a coach of the caliber of Hodgson is available to dig them out of the mess Autry has made. Don't make the problem worse...hire Hodgson.
