Yes, insiders have hinted that Melo's big NIL$ will not appear if Hop is not the next coach.So then by that logic the assumption is that if Hopkins isn't hired Melo takes his ball and goes home? No funding?
Melo's stance is, hire a worse coach, play and feature my son, and I will give you money. This isn't AAU basketball, right?
That is a losing strategy for Syracuse because the money Melo is going is a one time lump sum not an annual thing. So I would rather do what is in the best interest of Syracuse long term versus what is in the best interest of the Anthony's in the short term.
Get a proven coach with offensive and defensive systems build NIL structure the correct way to get stable annual support. If Melo doesn't want to be apart of that, so be it.
I think picking Hop is a losing strategy too but there are also no 100% guarantee no matter who is the next coach.
