I know, Syracuse Football wasn’t attracting a guy like Hodgson if the roles were reversed.
I know it, the things I see on this board are so illogical sometimes. And people wonder why this university has fallen off a cliff.
First. Football has 85 scholarship players. Basketball has 13. Let’s start with that.
Football also has tiers of coaches. Example being HC, coordinators, position coaches, quality control, analysts, etc. Basketball has a coach and 3-4 assistants. It’s a completely different system of operations. When you have a much larger group of people to control and keep on the same page, a motivator becomes more of a priority from the top person.
In football, it is extremely common for coordinators to call games both defensively and offensively. In basketball, game side decisions are 95% of the time made by a head coach.
We’ve dealt with years of pain with Autry. For the love of god, do not put another stupid game manager on the sidelines if you want even a hint of national relevancy again.
Last point. Todd Golden (the most recent national championship winning head coach) had zero experience coaching at the power five level. Hodgson is so painfully obvious as the next person here. He fits the mold.
The Hopkins talk (and backing) completely blows my mind.
