We winDont worry Melo going to give him one time lump sum of 30 mil for NIL and that will make him a good coach. What happens if he spends it all year 1?

keep running that offense and see what happensThe last 40 years? We were pretty damn successful for 40 years.
We win
I think Melo, really most of us watched us compete in November. The warning signs were there though. This roster was strong on paper. Unfortunately not strong on the white board where the “plays” were drawn up
I know the pandemonium in this thread is causing people to lose their minds, but this might be over the top insanity... Forget about his mismanagement of a roster with Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper last season, this year Pikiell's squad has followed it up with some eye-sore inducing metrics, including the 5th worst average distance on 2-point shots. That style of offense belongs in the basketball wasteland that is Piscataway, not in Syracuse.I'd rather have Pikiell than Hop and it's not even close.
30 million. I'm thinking we beat Gate, hold serve on Cornell, squeeze one out against BC , and possibly make a play in game.Win what? The bubble? Because we aren't winning the title or anything and we aren't winning the ACC or ACCT. So what exactly do you expect to win?
Dakota Laffew and Mullen!Put that in a high yield savings account any by year 3 we’ll finally be able to afford Dakota Laffew.
Completely missed his point. And he wasn’t even close to “some assistant laying around” he was the associate head coach under scheyer at duke.Jai Lucas has done pretty well resurrecting Miami.
Any chance Gmac is the compromise choice that brings both NIL Titans togetherDakota Ladder and Mullen!
You can’t blame his 2020 season on Covid. Covid didn’t affect anything until the conference tournaments. His season was already done at that point.
So we think Melo is going to pay guys who are better than Kiyan, and they are going to let Kiyan be the alpha?
Covid was two years? Hell let’s just make it 5 and we can loop Reds tenure in there, use the covid excuse and give him another year.
Stop making senseThat post makes no sense.
As others have noted, COVID didn't impact the 2020 regular season at all. "Back 9" Boeheim made the S16 in 2021, but we're supposed to give Hop a pass that season?
Meanwhile 2022, 2023 and 2024 were lousy. 3 year COVID hangover?
Hop's a nice guy and his tenure at UW was a big flop. There's no rationalizations for that.
If you want to hire him anyway, that's a choice. But he stunk in UW for 5 years.
Life is all about luck, timing, and being the right guy, in the right place, at the right time.
ALL ABOARD THE HOP EXPRESS!!!!!
Melo isn't giving 30 million. He is raising 30 million. Monumental difference. No strings attached "play the best players" Melo is giving 30+ million to have his son ride the bench again. I believe that lol

I think he thinks his son is better than he has showed.Same thing, he isn't doing all this for his son to not play. I know what everyone will say but I know what reality will be because the only reason Hopkins will even have a chance at the job is because of Melo. So I doubt we are going to see a benching like this year and I imagine we will see an increased role despite what is said publicly.
I see what you are saying. My expectations for BH year 1 would be different because he wouldn't have 30 million dollars backing him. In YR 1 I would want to see BH make the team compete on both ends of the floor, successfully changing the culture in the program. I want to see the actual defensive and offensive systems installed. And I would expect us not to have a losing season doing this.
YR 2 and going forward I would expect the tournament again, no exceptions every year. Any year after YR 1 that isn't a tournament team would be a failure.
That would be my expectations for anyone who isn't a continuity hire with 30 million dollars backing them
Syracuse isn’t a small school…Absent knowledge, it's natural for people to extrapolate from what they do know. Which is most of this thread. But these are really important hires for a small private school in upstate NY with a once very successful sports program combined with an NCAA ecosystem with seismic changes occurring. We all want SU to be the best that it can be.
There are folks whose info I trust and some I take with a grain of salt. I am 100% certain there are those who get things only from people with limited involvement and highly colored by their own personal opinions.
So grateful for this- bulldog, Jake, dasher, Richmond, Jeremy.
And he might be. I see flashes of a better player. I want to see him with another coached team.I think he thinks his son is better than he has showed.
