Take this to penn state board.I would be all on board with Gmac. The guy oozes his players to play with intensity and he gets after it.

Would you be unimpressed with Nate Oats? Because Hodgson was with him for his entire tenure at Buffalo and then Alabama and is very much in the same mold. And he’s a proven recruiter. He helped Oats build those programs and knows how to implement and teach the successful systems. I think he’s going to be a fantastic hire.I think he’s the front runner but I’m not praising him as the 2nd coming. Hopkins is boring and washed up which is a disqualifier for me.
Hodgson is young and hungry which I will always give an edge to in the current landscape of college sports which is a dumpster fire.
Do I think all these metrics and stats and even the wins losses at midmajors mean that BH will be some hall of famer and take us to a sweet 16 any time soon. Thats a big no.
Guess my point is that I’m picking based on potential and who the better coach is between the options we have. I wish we could get better but that’s not where we’re at now.
I can understand all that (and even sympathize somewhat) but I just can’t imagine a father not doing whatever he can to help his son.I think he would have to be really convinced. And I don't know this, but since Bh is a Lally sponsor, I think melo just might be a little chapped that his name is below theirs on his bg.

At the same time, if we're upping our payroll, I picture Kiyan being portaled over and struggling to see the floor similar to this year so...I'm not seeing any conceivable way this is viableDo you really think, if Melo has access to anything near 30 Mil,that if we hired BH he would withhold it all? Wouldn’t that be tough on his kid? You’d think, from what I’ve heard, that Melo would want Kiyan to have the best roster possible.
College sports is littered with assistant coaches that should’ve been amazing given their pedigree then were terrible. At the same time som coaching trees have been known to just have that special sauce to always win.Would you say the same about Nate Oats? Because Hodgson was with him for his entire tenure at Buffalo and then Alabama and is very much in the same mold. I want our next head coach to be someone who understands X’s and O’s, can inspire his team to play hard, can update his game plan throughout the game and after half time and can establish a never give up culture.I think most on the board want our next head coach to not be a Boeheim disciple.
Lally played too much zone in the modern bball era, damnI can say for certain that there’s feeling within the basketball alums of ten plus years ago that the university doesn’t care about basketball like they used to. I’m not saying it’s true because I don’t necessarily think it is, but it’s a belief a few of our most winning players have. So while BH is the best candidate all of the alums love Hop and there’s not a lot of trust in the admin these days. Just something to think about regarding the coaching situation. The Lally family has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way on the basketball side.
Maybe the admin stopped caring but just look at the results on the court. Admin didn't coach the last 10+years. NIL portal stuff are very recent changes.I can say for certain that there’s feeling within the basketball alums of ten plus years ago that the university doesn’t care about basketball like they used to. Only 1?White already has a portal suitor.
I don’t think their opinion is true. That said some on the BOT have gone out of their way to piss the bball alums off. That said they did get Autry to be the JB replacement. It’s time to go a completely different direction.Maybe the admin stopped caring but just look at the results on the court. Admin didn't coach the last 10+years. Ya think?I think most on the board want our next head coach to not be a Boeheim disciple.
No serious fan thinks Jay Wright would ever coach SyracuseI’ve shared this once before. I know for a fact that Jay Wright is happily retired from coaching. He loves studio work. He is not coming back. That is from the horse’s mouth.
Why not? If they hire Hopkins, their motives are not the betterment of SU basketball. As I said, you can question their decision. You can question their judgment. Just not their motives.

That can't be-The portal isn't open yet.White already has a portal suitor.
Yeah I think people are forgetting this guy is going to get offers that are extremely large. This isn’t a matter of the university just saying oh yeah he’s our guy this is easy and they just get him. There’s going to be a bidding warYou know what we haven't considered. BH wins a couple of games in the tournament and suddenly
Ohio st wants him. Better job than ours. What then?

They would disagree with that. Why not? If they hire Hopkins, their motives are not the betterment of SU basketball.
You joke but I wish Cuse could be Utica. Their basketball program in the post covid era is 108-30 with 3 NCAA tournament appearances. We could be Utica.
With who? Oklahoma? ….Yeah I think people are forgetting this guy is going to get offers that are extremely large. This isn’t a matter of the university just saying oh yeah he’s our guy this is easy and they just get him. There’s going to be a bidding war
