Coach Search Options after Autry

Yahoo Sports mentions Mark Byington of Vanderbilt as a potential coaching candidate.
So this one. I read the Yahoo article which cites the Sporting News. The Sporting News article cites our own Neil Adler's article about a list of 10 potential guys.

So I would say there's no actual reporting that he's a target or interested at this time. More an interesting name.

Yeah and why would he come here? These writers who just rip fan boards off - egads.

BH was just on the Dusty and Danny Show on Sirius XM. Impressive dude. They asked him about the Cuse gig and how he keeps the team and himself focused with the rumors out there. He talked about how Red is a good friend of his and he hated seeing a friend lose a job, especially at a school he gave so many years of his life to. He didn’t try to say “I’m not going anywhere” which was refreshing.

He knows how important gaining trust and building relationships with the Syracuse Basketball alumni will be if he has this job. Because Red may not be head coach anymore, but he is still Orange.

Goodman says GMax to Cuse and BH to Providence but he’s an idiot

Could
Be the
Other way around.

Have to
Admit if GMac was hired at the Cuse I wouldn’t be bothered.
He’s a winner.
Period.

He’s experienced
What has to be done
To win it all

And the Orange won’t be “back” until we can think we can win
It all every year.

Did Edgar Allan Poe write/type that?

IMO, you simply could not pass over the senior staff member, who had more staff responsibilities than Gerry, no known issues, and is a minority. SU would have been skewered.
Edsall vs Pasqualoni? Wasn’t Randy higher up?

You can do whatever imo. Group think and conventional wisdom is failure. Red Sox hired Theo Epstein over senior guys in Red Sox organization. They really fd it up.

Recruiting is very different today. It's more about allocating financial resources and roster balance.
It’s not just writing checks. You have to sell the areas, the school, the program. Player x can get 2 million at 10 different schools. You can’t over pay for everyone. The coach and recruiter need to sell the benefits over the others. Fran sells himself that’s why he’s a great recruiter. If it was as easy as writing a check then Fran brown wouldn’t be here. Every good su basketball team was backed by a good recruiter. Troy weaver, murphy, Hopkins… when we lost the big time recruiter the program trended down.

If you had to break down the odds of whether we are getting GMAC or BH, what would the odds look like ---assuming it came down to those two guys?

It’s Syracuse, bh has been the talk for weeks, doesn’t mean anything. Look at the ad hire and the football hire. A dark horse came out of nowhere and wowed the interview. I wouldn’t be afraid to bet on the dark horse. Does Toledo have a decent coach 😂
