So true. If people feel how things for Red went bad it will be even worse for Gerry if he takes the team and does not go to the tournament his first year. Not his fault but with JB and Red there will be no grace period for a majority of the fan base or media. Maybe in several years if the next coach moves on and Gerry continues to have success it will be the right move.

Huh? Kingz wasn't a role player. He started at Oregon State before starting with us. George, as you mentioned, wasn't a role player either. He didn't perform as we hoped, but he was a starter.
Gerry got a highly thought of 4* to commit to Siena over Providence. Not so sure he has proven that he can’t recruit.
He missed on a lot of big recruits here.
The level of recruiting when Gerry was an assistant here was bad, that's a lot of the reason for the last 12 years. And he was part of that so he needs to show he can consistently recruit real talent to compete at the level we need.

You are for Gerry. Has he dragged it out? Or has he done the same thing that Hodgson has done? Coached his team. And waited for the smoke to clear.

The commitment was back in September. Siena doesn’t get this level of player. Even in its heyday they never got a higher ranked recruit.

No offense but if Gerry is hired and he gets us in the tourney with an 11 seed , I’m good . ( At least the first year ) . I would expect the seeds to get lower as he moved forward .
It would be very popular among Syracuse fans that don't post on the internet, We tend to think we are the center of the Syracuse world. We really aren't. The guy walking down the street that doesn't post or live and die like we do, will be totally cool with a Gerry hiring. We won't be. But we aren't the majority.

Yep. The casual fan will see Siena in the dance and assume Gerry’s ready. I actually think Gerry is better for ticket sales, at least season ticket sales and early games, but you need a guy who’s got everybody showing up in March.
I said this privately but where does the agent want Hodgson to go? If he goes to P.C., he can flip Gerry to Syracuse. If Hodgson goes to Syracuse Gerry is at Siena again next year. I still think Hodgson goes to Syracuse but that does scare me a bit.
This is not anything everyone doesn’t know, but it’s simply show me the money! A good coach will do very well at Syracuse, a great coach will hasten the process. If$$$$$, Simple.

In the event GMAC is named HC in this cycle it's going to be about how he approaches the press conference. I would want angry GMAC, maybe some cursing in the introductory press conference expressing his sense of urgency to turn this thing around. I want to see the GMAC that has everyone running through walls for him. Atleast I know if we end up with GMAC right now it's because we couldn't do better when conventional wisdom would be that Syracuse should get the best outside candidate it can on the market. For the record, I want Hodgson because I think he is the real deal and ready right now. But I also think GMAC can be an elite high level coach, just that I have more reservations whether he is ready right now.

I do not think the agent will be deciding the destination of Hodgson. BH does not strike me as the type to take orders WRT his coaching destination and supposed dream job. Same applies to Gerry.
