Living in Providence I am watching their process with an established AD. Could not be more different. There is much less conjecture in the media and much less angst in the community . With Brown and URI, there is much less civic capital associated with PC.
For Syracuse, civic interest and capital centers on SU and its athletic program. First actions by the new AD are high stakes for the community and sets the course for his/her leadership tenure. The trustees will back what Blair wants to do. They cannot undermine their new leader. So we know when the negotiations stopped, Blair nixed Hodgson. Obviously, he will endeavor to hire a coach that can restore high level competitive success and he should have the confidence to rally the financial support for his decision. His job depends on it.
