Coach Search Options after Autry

It might have been a little more than that. Perhaps Skinn was the choice until the last few days. The University has to be thinking now that there is no way to sell a guy like Skinn against a guy like Gerry. If we are concerned about where to get NIL, Skinn couldn't be the choice over Gerry.
If we really wanted Skinn we could've hired him 3 days ago...

I'm still hoping BB is smart enough to give Murray and Martelli a shot. If more money is there for Gmac so be it but if all things are equal. Or maybe the big NIL donation yesterday was from Bill freakin Murray
After missing 100+ pages in this thread posted yesterday while watching March Madness at KeyBank... this is also where I find myself. I've never doubted G-Mac's ability to coach, I just never thought he was ready to make the jump from Siena to Syracuse. However, I think the noise has become too loud to tune out with the MAAC Championship and an all-time performance against Duke yesterday.

Additionally, if all that’s been said about our NIL situation is true, then we really have no choice other than to go with him. As much as I detest Weitsman, it’s clear if we are ever going to be competitive again in basketball, we need him involved. Both Boeheim and G-Mac have had no problem taking money from him, and he clearly wants back in with the program. If he will legitimately contribute for G-Mac, then he seems like the most logical option. I would love to take a shot on Murray or Martelli Jr. but it seems like we would just be setting them up to fail if the money won't be there. I will end up rooting for whoever we hire, but if he can legitimately generate the funds some are talking about, G-Mac seems like the best move.

Love how the little piece got added citing a lack of NIL resources and fan support.

It does say he turned down an offer from us per sources but hard to tell if that is based on Goodman still. May never know.
He’s satire

Interesting quote from JB on GMAC. “He’ll decide what he wants to do and I’ll support him.”

Sounds like he’s the first call and that it’s not a slam dunk.
i think jb was talking about BB?

NIL funding is metric to measure fan support. That's my guess. We just got embarrassed by Providence. The people who wanted Autry to get a third year should take some responsibility. Everyone with a brain knew he was toast after year 1.5. People can get mad at me all they want but this was an avoidable embarrassment that we may never recover from. People at the top need to own it. What a mess!

...or the 5-year Autry contract to begin with... another big footshot in all of this.

I'm reading it this way. How many times are we going to wave the job in his face and pull the football away like he's Charlie Brown?

If I'm Gmac I'm prob telling people the same thing. Don't come back here unless it's with a final offer. I'm not going to get excited and then have you fools go with Martelli or someone else last minute.

This is high-quality analysis. At this point I am in agreement. We need to play the cards we were dealt.

Luke Murray is not the same as any listed above, but yea the fanbase is terrified of an assistant again.
Arizona fans were prob angry about Lloyd but it’s worked out for them. I think if you get a sense in the interview that an asst for a big program in a winning culture is ready, sometimes you have to be a little early.
