Coach Search Options after Autry

Oh My George Takai GIF

I’ve said he’s done a good job at Siena. I question whether he’s shown enough to make me comfortable with him at SU. Everyone seems to be saying the Duke game proves he is. I don’t believe one game proves anything, unless it’s the national championship game. Even then I’m not sure.
Like Dasher said stop be littering him because you feel the Duke game was a tipping point. It wasn’t just reinforcement that he gets the most from his player. Not much more a coach can do!! Also dresses the part, and is well spoken. All not important attributes. I guess?

25 years. Beyond of 25 years I think it’s Pearl, clearly #1. I think Moten, Sherm, Gerry and Melo are the next group, in some order.
The answer is always Pearl. He sat next to us several times in the 124/125 area, this was towards the end of his life, and was the most patient, kind person ever. Poor guy would try to get a bite to eat at halftime and have a steady line of people coming up to him asking for pics, and he'd just smile, shake their hands, and do it. (We never even thought to impose on him like that and now regret it) Funny thing would be he'd be with John Wallace most of the time, and no one seemed to have a clue as to who he was. We'd tease John about it and he'd laugh.

Is it belittling Gerry McNamara to say he's a good coach who's not yet proven that he's ready for what we hope is one of the top 25 jobs in the sport?

The logic is, "Nobody should be considered based off that resume, they need more experience." It's not, "Gerry isn't good."

I had the honor of meeting Pearl myself, though the first time I didn’t recognize him.
He was selling tshirts to fans in the waiting area before a flight to the Orange bowl game.
So down to earth, humble, really really sweet.
He invited my best friend and I to a party he was throwing, I wish I had gone!

Could be a real fun day tomorrow
OK how do you want to do this?

We make lists and you say yes and no and narrow it down?

A series of hints, starting confusing and eventually making it clear?

One 🍊 if it's Schertz, 🍊🍊 if it's Gerry?

Or, my favorite, you go tell an employee at an Enterprise Rent-a-Car in either Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, or St. Louis and we send a poster there to find out?

Not really. There are a lot of young recency biased fans go for the hot name (not that name) is not great but they are headline readers and don’t read the entire article. Shertz is gray and a great get, but Gmac is young thought and is showing signs of being very, very good. I’m a Gmac guy would be happy with Shertz but happier with Gmac. Same with best thing since sliced bread has one more year as HC than Gmac not a hundred. Sift through get the right guy. But he who hesitated is lost.
I think we will have a coach pretty soon.
