Coach Search Options after Autry

My point is when a bunch of different people from different sources tell me money is pouring in if it is Gerry and the A.D. says NiL is the key and he hires Gerry, I think it is 1+1 =2 But you might be right so ...

Really hope you are right.

Proof will be in the roster construction.

Can't wait for the PORTAL thread!

Gird ye loins, peeps!

Did he give his full self to the university when he hung on too long, refused to go peacefully, and made one of the most uncomfortably awkward exits of any legendary head coach?
I agree but I would hedge on the go peacefully. We have all seen what not going peacefully looks like and it wasn't really JB at the end.

I suppose he could have made it uglier, but it's also three years later and people are saying he undermined one or more of our top choices to be the next HC.

I think he mostly cares about being talked about positively and remembered for as long as possible, and he knows he'll get more of that if it's a family hire who has success than if it's an outside hire who has success. But that's just my .02 as a fan. Obviously he wants Cuse to win, but he wants them to win the way he wants, not whatever way is best for the program.

Well, he's called fans stupid and IF he's pulling strings on NIL whale donors for specific candidates in this hiring cycle behind the scenes, it could be successfully argued he STILL hasn't gone peacefully and still has his hands all over the program.

Win and NIL will never be a problem. If he can win with 9 he can crush it with 13
We've gone from the argument being GMac with $12M vs Schertz with $8M, and the Schertz guys saying if he wins year one he'll get to $12M to the argument being if GMac wins with $9M he'll get to $13M?

Man I really hope that CBS article is wrong and I hope we hire a prominent outside assistant for the offense, but I can't say I'm optimistic - it seems like this is just getting more depressing.

The NIL situation will be fluid. Some transplants from lower levels at lower costs to the program will help fill roster out. Maybe some specialty skill guys.

A couple current guys won't get invited back so that money won't be allocated.

It will come down to likely three or four guys getting the lions share and being expected to carry the load. Who those few guys are, are anybody's guess at this point.

Obviously would have to look back on who Gerry recruited years back to see if any are worth pursuing.

Estrella always seems to be mentioned every off season but he wouldn't be worthy of the big investment that is likely going to be targeted to a select few.

I agree on most of it but i don't think he really cares about being talked about. He just doesn't know how to say no to being interviewed. His wife ended up answering a question she didn't appear to really want to answer instead of just shrugging it off and saying not my field.

It's not all about money contrary to popular belief. Even in this new era success starts with organizational excellence in coaching and scouting. You can have all the money in world and not know who is actually good. You can sign a guy like Nait George. Money is certainly important but the idea that Gerry will definitely succeed because money is silly to me

If he doesn't care, why do you think he's exerting the kind of influence he is to try to force them to keep it in the family instead of supporting a national search for the best candidate and then doing his part to line up the NIL regardless of who it is? Is there another reason that makes sense?

Don't just look for the negative things to read to enforce negative thoughts. Thamel had written that Syracuse will be top third and maybe higher. That differs from Norlander. The one thing i am confident about is the money. This year we will have it.

qdawgg bnoro not tryna be a dbag it’s just a stressful time. Lot of uncertainty with basically everything and everyone.

I agree but IMO you're coming on strong being kind of a jerk. Lot of people have been here a long time and went through all the JB b.s. trying to exert his control and feel the same thing is happening now. I love Gmac and I want him to be successful but it's fair to question whether he's had enough experience to get it done at this level.

Either way, we're all SU fans and this is a huge, huge choice by SU.
