I would be so happy to be wrong about Gmac. We’ve all just been so frustrated with how the athletic department has allowed the basketball program to atrophy for a full decade, many of us just don’t trust the powers that be or their judgement. And that’s to say nothing of Boeheim’s meddling and undermining, starting with Hop. And here they are again choosing a demonstrably less qualified coach because he’s a Syracuse guy, instead of getting the best coach available.

If Gerry takes us to the tournament, that would be good. However, it is the bare minimum that we expect every single year

JB has a long memory. Post game comments by Oats in 16&17 were bookmarked in his brain and the story about Trey Autry added fuel to his fire. He was not going to give his blessing to Hodgson and he still has friends who are donors. Hodgson felt unwelcome and bolted.

Don’t know how much JB would have supported guys like Schertz, Martelli Jr Skinn etc…but I don’t think it mattered. I don’t think Shertz was getting the money he wanted to leave and the rest don’t move the NIL needle like GMAC. If his NIL is north of $12M than he’s going to be really good shape. I don’t think BB had too many options once the Hail Mary to Schertz failed.

JB came to the table with a gut shot straight, and hit it on the turn when Gerry won the tournament.

Hop is NOT coming back to be an assistant coach. Would he come as part of the GM staff?!?! Doubt it, but don’t know for sure.

I assume Kiyan and Sadiq are wanted by Gerry. Would not be surprised if Betsey and Kingz are as well - though Kingz waiver would have to be pursued.

Donnie’s the wildcard. No idea. I bet Hodgson makes a run at him.

I don’t see George here next year.

Concerning information that was leaked, specifically as it related to his conduct, and very importantly what he put out about this job was disrespectful. Honestly treacherous as it relates to integrity. We said goodbye I very strongly believe. I believe BH will regret his mouth and his foolish loyalty to his previous and seemingly current mentor. It was all put out after we moved on, did you notice. In any event I am very grateful for that as he showed his colors. Things happen for a reason and there is no way we would have hired him, and then the spin he put on. It literally validated the decision. I am very proud of that, JB aside for sure. That is just the right thing to do.

Unless it’s a 5 star guy they are not going to matter. 18 of the 20 5 stars are committed anyway to the usual blue bloods. No one on our list of candidates anyway was getting close to that level of talent at least for next year anyway.

Find something to complain about that matters more. There’s plenty of other things.

4 star kids should make your rotation. That's like number 20 to around 50.
Sadiq and Anthony were both 4 stars last year.

I think people here have some serious issues literally borderline delusional. Fact remains There are just some who cannot stand the fact that we kept it in JB tree. There certainly was a lot of good right? There was a lot of crazy intermittent issues even during the best of times however minimal. The last however 7 years atrocious for so many reasons. Nevertheless so many have verbalized such amazing benefit from JB. Nevertheless please judge them for their own merit. Based on these statements, I find it hard to believe you are a Syracuse fan. It seems to me you are a GMac fan. Otherwise, you wouldn't have said, "I refuse to renew my season tickets until I find out who is coming."

At this point, while he hasn't done one thing as a coach, people are looking to nit pick and fault with everything they can think of. Does anyone here really believe that Gerry is going to flood his starting and playing time with Siena players. Hold your hand up right now if that is what you think he is going to do so we can hold that to you later on? Personally, I don't care who sits at the end of our bench. Gerry wants to win. He knows better than anyone here what it takes to win at this level. He played at it. He isn't going to be playing a bunch of Siena guys. No offense to them. This is exhausting. I'm waiting for the post that declares it's time to end the Gerry experiment. It just didn't work out.

You are a voice of reason attempting to deal with a very irrational majority. I come here because I am an alum, and this place changed my life. I am also a massive homer. However my medical background allows me to see seriously pathologic traits. I honestly spend too much time here because I care so much about Syracuse athletics and what it can do for a person. However there are some people here that are literally sick. It is hard not to see from a psychological standpoint if you actually spend time here. honestly consistent with social media traits of today. I will stick with the homers with good motives. While realizing this is only a game. It brings a lot of enjoyment and what it does is more important than the game itself. We have had so many good people, a good place to focus.

Folefac is a really intriguing prospect. Physical kid who defends well and has good footwork and is just a freshman. Nice piece to have off the bench and has a lot of potential.

Not sure what position Folefac would play in the ACC but I think he could body up a lot of 4s. He’d be a really nice bench piece. One thing I want is for Gerry to bring in a big physical 5 man like Arizona, Texas Tech, Carolina and Duke have. I feel like that would help with the rebounding issues we always seem to have. Also allows for a very athletic 4 man.

the most will be 3 of 15. all 3 can play acc even if the 13, 14, 15th player. which doty won't be. i think he'll be like the 7th man.

If that's where they end up in the mix, that's fine. Doty as a 6th/7th man seems reasonable, and the others as bottom of the roster guys to bring intensity to practice and teach Gerry's system. I just have a hard time convincing myself that a guy who started 26 games and averaged 28 minutes and double digit points (Folefac) is going to be okay with being the 13th or 14th player on the roster.

Not sure if everyone remembers. But Gerry used to get crushed on this site for his lack of ability to close recruits. Hopefully that has changed. Granted it’s a lot easier to close when your head coach participates in recruiting.

Yeah that's an issue I haven't brought up with the hire because I think it's unfair to Gerry to judge him on recruiting when Boeheim wasn't doing his part at the end. Also as others have pointed out, recruiting is more about money now than anything else.
