Coaching Lost the FSU Game

every time these guys make a call that doent work its coaching issues with people.. for the first time in 20 games he starts to trust the guys to make plays and now we want to kick fgs every time?

You seem to be leaving out that this constitutes the majority of calls.

I didn’t realize that we were winning at the time and that was the last play of the game?? Even with a holding call, our chances of winning is 50/50 at best.

it is easy to blame the refs, but coaching lost this one. Dino quit once he got paid.

I thought the coaching was fine today. Only 2-3 penalties, played to the strengths of the offense and no boneheaded play calls. Conservative play calling was fine bc of Tucker, Rhino and Shrader and our fine OL run blocking The refs non-call at the end cost us the game.

Coaching did not lose this game, please stop. Not every coach makes the right decision 100% of the time and it's easy to second guess after a loss. How about the things he did right? I would have pulled Shrader in the second quarter right before he started to explode and he left him in and stuck with him.

The only plus I take out of it is Shrader looked good.

From a certain point of view, one could almost call it a masterpiece.

I would not bring up clock management if it did not happen in so many games during DB tenure at SU.

Playing for a FG there never serves us well. We obviously needed 7. The second down play call was highly questionable.

The D never adjusted for Travis. FSU had more yards per play rushing that throwing. Not sure if I have seen that ever in a P5 game. He held them to 6 yards per completion and still gave up 33 points.

The refs were a huge part of this one. Bad luck was huge (fumble TD). But that doesn't excuse the D. It doesn't excuse the horrible play calling in the 1st Q. It doesn't excuse the 4th down play call. It doesn't excuse the horrible clock management in the 1st half. It doesn't excuse the bad play calling goal to go on the FSU goaline "stand" nor the last drive.

Close games the refs and coaching decision are huge. We have had bad both now in our 2 BCS games. We cannot control the refs. We can control our coaching decisions.

Not getting a touchdown after the Duce pick was huge. I hated the first down call from the seven and then Shrader tries to run up the middle. Shrader missed a couple of open passes, but he showed that he can throw the ball well enough to win games.
