Cole Swider: Anadolu Efes in Turkey

From reading the Raptors RealGM board it is still possible that Cole Swider comes back to the Raptors this year.

The reason they waived Swider and Orlando Robinson was for flexibility reasons.
It gives them flexibility to now re-sign two players, who could be Swider and Robinson, for contracts for the rest of this season + a partial guarantee for next year. There are a few other players who are being considered.

Without waiving Swider or Robinson, they could not give them a partial guaranteed contract for next year. Don't ask me the why's -- just the way contracts work from what I read.

They signed Swider for the rest of the season.

And they waived him today. I follow the Raptors more than the Orange, so I'm pretty up to date on what they are doing.

1. They signed him for the rest of the season on Monday.
2. They waived him today, but it could result in him or another player coming back beyond this year.

Sure hope he gets the chance.

For Cole it probably depends on the size and type of the partial guarantee the Raptors give him. I don't think the Raptors will give him anything close to a full contract net year, and I'm sure Cole will be able to secure partial guarantees from some other teams in the offseason - so he may not bite on an offer either,

Cole, like Oshae, seems to be stuck in the middle, a "AAAA" type of player. Right on that fringe of in/out, which can't be comfortable for these guys. Can only hope them the best of luck that they find the right match.

cole swider is a summer league legend. i’m not sure how he hasn’t gotten legit opportunities yet. i watch the lakers A LOT and they could at least use him a few minutes a night. that tells me other teams can as well.

also off topic but seeing bazley in the summer league is oddly satisfying.

Wonder if Austin Reaves leaving the Lakers improves Swider’s opportunity?

austin isn’t getting traded :/. i think regardless he is a guy that could be there 14 or 15 guy and show up on the court.

Bazley made his $, whether we like it or not, it was the right decision for him

Bazley made his $, but he potentially left a lot more on the table. I read an article where Bazley implied that he was young and made some bad decisions that took away his opportunity to play college ball. Regrets, partially and after the fact when it doesn’t work out the way you expected it to.

Cole is better than Knecht.
How? I’m asking because I do not see anything that they bring to the table other than being knock down shooters. Where does one have an edge over the other?

Swider is about 4 inches taller and can rebound.

He would be best served proving that he can. I don't think any team has any questions about his shooting skills, but he does need to show other things. That him and Knecht had the same number of rebounds today doesn't help, even with Swider's domination of scoring. If he can show enough D, enough rebs, enough ballhandling, he gets to the league, otherwise dweebs like Sam Hauser make $10M, and he is not that different of a player to be making that kind of money while Swider is in the G-League. There are several like him too.

He averaged 6 rebounds a game in the G League last year, and averaged 8.6 a few years ago. That's not bad.

Those are G League numbers. When he is called up and gets playing time, what are his rebound numbers like? Defense?

You only get stats for the games you play.
You've heard of Google, right?
Why don't you give me the numbers that show he doesn't rebound?

Not great. Also, his 3 pt % needs to be at 40% in the NBA or he's not gonna make it. Rooting for him, but feels like a AAA level player.

He potentially could have made nothing as well once they saw him play at Cuse.
