Cole Swider signs with Heat

There are or have been a lot of guys who had a career in the NBA who did little else other than shoot very well. Those type of guys need to be lucky to join the very few top defensive contending teams that are good enough to cover up the shooter's deficiencies while highly valuing that one skill for certain plays/situations.

That's true, but I suppose I consider him more of a backcourt guy than a frontcourt guy due to his skillset. And I think if a trade for Lillard happens, it could free up more space in the rotation depending on what they have to give up to acquire him.

Yeah they have made a living off finding roles for undrafted guys. Cole isn't as mobile as Strus but ultimately could be used similar to him on offense. His defense is still an issue among other things but if there is a team that's found ways to maximize specialists- Miami is it.

As a Knicks fan, I'm not overjoyed to see another outside sniper on the Heat. But I'll have to suck it up if it means success for Cole. Great young man.
