Does this mean there won’t be one cash spot? And is cashless like take a pic of the QR code and Order that way?

It's the end of the world as we know it.

I don't mind not having to put bills and change in my wallet and pocket that have been who knows where and have who knows what on them during a pandemic.

I liked getting half dollars back as change at the Dome concession stands. Someone decided it would save a lot of time to give out half dollars instead of 2 quarters so most of the time I bought stuff and it came to something and 50 cents, I would get a half dollar back in change.

A half dollar is very good for a ball marker when you golf. And little kids love getting half dollars. I would hook up my nieces and nephews when possible.

Guess I gotta go to the credit union for that now. I will survive.

Excited to be able to get chicken tenders, burgers, and french fries in all 4 corners of the lower level. Those are, IMHO, the best things available in the dome and it is good the best stuff will be easier to get now.

Hoping for more options in more places. Pulled pork was available, I believe, in only one place. It would be awesome to have philly cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks, roasted turkey sandwiches...stuff like that you can get at most major sports venues. Was not a fan of the cold sandwiches. The hot dogs have been sad from day one. The sausage with peppers and onions a little better but not great.
 
so is SU eating the cost of going cash less or bumping the price up and passing it on to us?

No. That was the only corner where you could get chicken tenders and fries forever. Because it was the only one with a deep fryer. That has changed. They have installed the equipment in all 4 corners of the lower level.

Fries for everyone. Except me. I am on keto. ) ;
 
Am I the only one that has a problem with this? I didn't have my credit card until I was 25. There is a contingent of people who won't go because of this. All of those options have to be linked to a bank account or credit card. Not everyone has one. On top of that, I'd like to know the legality of something like this. Seriously..."this note is legal tender for all debts, public and private". I don't like just handing my credit card over to my kids but they are 13 and 17 and perfectly capable of taking a $10 bill to go get a soda and popcorn. Now I have to get up every time they want to buy something? Bad call SU and likely to make a dent in your concession/merch sales.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum on this one (diametrically opposite my Luddite stance on the phantom ticket ticketing strategy) - I never have cash on me, plastic's much more convenient.

But there are undoubtedly people who attend games who don't have credit cards or even bank accounts. To not accept legal tender is ridiculous. That practice is barred by law in some places (Massachusetts, the city of Philadelphia, others, IIRC), and that type of legislation is likely to become more widespread as businesses adopt these exclusionary practices, I believe.

It's also funny that SU didn't even accept cards until about 2014, give or take. Just can't find a happy medium that accommodates all customers, apparently.
 
I'm all for it as long as they put in some new credit card terminals. I shouldn't have to hand my card over to a cashier for her/him to scan it and hand it back to me. I just want to tap and pay. No signature, no having to click yes 6 times that I authorize the purchase.

I would hope that's the plan, they're everywhere now. So easy to pay with a credit card, or tap your phone.

This should be welcome news to anyone who wants to spread less germs around the Dome.

Plus, sitting on a thinner wallet is better for your back and hips.

everyone has at least a debit card.

my kids, ages 12, 10 & even 6...all have a debit card.

and again, there is a pandemic occurring, so the less transfer of things to each other the better.

nice to think so but far from true.

again why the push to credit cards.. just so they can track what you buy? it adds cost, it adds equipment, not even clear it saves time.. if people wanted to use cards over the last 5-10 yrs at the dome it would have been the preference yet it wasnt.

all the transfer stuff is dumb, studies have shown it was pretty much a non issue.

and what is the fall back when the cards dont work when they have network issues?

It's still the Dome saying we won't accept legal tender. That to me is BS. And not everyone has a debit card. Want to know how I know this? Because when I'm at Wal-mart and there is 10 open self-checkouts but people are waiting in a different line because they are card only and all they have is cash. Great for me, sucks for the 10 people standing in line. I also understand there is a pandemic, but if you think spreading covid via cash is a bigger risk that just going to the dome and sitting udner a roof with 30,000 then I don't know what to tell you. It's like the person who orders a Diet coke...to go with their Big Mac. Cash isn't the problem, people breathing on each other is.

the more you go out of the city the more people deal in cash only. now who knows how that market compares to people buying SU tickets. now they get to the dome with cash and no ticket to buy and cant buy good once they are inside..

out here in small town USA lots of places are cash only just to cut costs..

one place it could save SU money is the number of times the cashiers cant do math though.

I'll go one step further, the closer into the city from the suburbs you are, the more people deal in cash only, as in city residents.
 
Doesn’t affect me much. I virtually never buy food at the Dome, maybe a cold drink, that’s about it. On a very rare occasion, a pretzel. We like to go out after games. The Dome is for watching sports, not dining.

When I do buy a drink it’s always cash. So I guess, it’s no drink now. Am I going to charge a $5 drink? Maybe. Maybe not.

because most sport venues have already been cashless for years and most people dont usually carry cash if they can avoid too
