Convince me this is not our best lineup

don’t think i can get behind that team. alan can’t handle the ball well enough to play the 2 and you have 3 players there who can’t shoot, and kadary also is only 3-15 from 3 this year. in 2021, you can’t win if you can’t shoot, having one shooter on the floor isn’t gonna get it done. i think our best lineup would be Kadary-Buddy-Alan-Quincy-Marek. so starting five but giving the keys to kadary to run the O

Basketball coaches on every level have a massive irrational hatred of turnovers, esp unforced, and double esp if they go the other way. (I don't remember this game in any real way as to what AG did but do sorta remember Buddy being in there for ball control and he basically knew the defensive rotations).

JB coaches these games like it's the last, so that's why he did it.

This is true. And it's also why it was funny how in the last game JB barely shrugged when Joe both fired a ball into the stands, and had a TO turn into a breakaway for NC State. Sometimes its not just the turnover, it's who commits it.

I get what people are saying when they advocate for this lineup, and I’m not saying JB shouldn’t experiment with it. But there’s really only one 3-point shooter on the floor with that lineup (and as others have said Alan isn’t great off the dribble at this point). I think you generally should have Buddy or Joe on the floor as well, but not both because we give up too much on defense with both of them at the top for long stretches.

He said it again last week. I can also tell you from experience that the difference in many offensive sets of many offensive systems is minimal.

It matters based on who initiates the set. Buddy can initiate sets (usually a guard characteristic). I don’t think AG can, consistently.

People get hung up on the lineups, and I get it because JB isn't a big mix and match guy for the whole game.

But if Sid is healthy enough to contribute and assuming Woody is back, you have a core group of 8. JB will mix and match early, find out who his best 5 are either based on the matchup or just whose game is on, and he'll ride those 5 most of the 2nd half.

Good to have more options. That's the key to our depth.

Braswell and Edwards are emergency guys. JBA is basically a walk on at this point. Frank I assume is out until next year.

i agree with that lineup for sure if sidbe wasnt hurt so he is and i can kinda read between the lines here, who knows if we'll see him back this season.
In terms of best players on the court those 4 should definitely be starting with buddy the 6th man and girard getting strong minutes

I don’t watch his press conferences. No reason to. If he said it, then he said it. I still don’t want to see AG playing the 2

If Sid plays more than 12 minutes in a game once he returns I'll be surprised. His conditioning is probably not good. I can't see JB taking major minutes away from either Marek or Q. And AG is too integral to the offense to sit him for that many minutes. I don't think we are going to see vintage Sid immediately anyway.

I’d love to just see Kadary and AG together at guard for an extended run a few times. Like , solid 8-10 minute runs. I suspect we’d be a lot better on defense, and similar on offense provided whoever was at the SF spot was producing.
