The more i think about this last season the more i think we may have really lucked out by losing the last five games. In short it may have been such a significant event that Doug and the program will learn from it and make the required changes to improve. If we had managed to make a bowl game it would have provided justification to stay the course. Instead we may have lucked out and actually forced a true review by the staff . Lets hope that they learn and adapt.

if he is as stubborn as some here say (I myself have no idea), then he will stay the course regardless of how the season played out.

Though him (rumored) making staff changes shows he is not as stubborn (rumored, again) as he may seem.

I have been with him outside of group settings only twice. Both times he was really nice i mean a great guy. However one of the people that we were with who really has been a huge part of the program for years since i was a little kid starting asking some specific questions. Doug changed and i could tell he didnt like being questioned at all. Not even a little bit and mind you this guy is major. I came away from that encounter thinking if Doug can respond to someone like this imagine how he is with the staff and players. Who knows maybe he was having a bad day and took it the wrong way but it struck a nerve with me. Add to that some of the things i hear and yes i think he is stubborn. Back to my original point sometimes it takes a very difficult situation to change someone. Five bad loses in a row might have been just what is needed to open him up a little.

kc thats a different kind of way to look at it...when bowl season began i was hurting and it was tough to knwo my beloved team would not be playing in a bowl game...as bowl season ends and everyone becomes 0-0 again looking too 2012 I feel slightly better especially after tomorrow the one year anni of the pinstripe bowl...you could be right though, but last year we played till Jan 1st and spring football came quickly, right now it sucks cause weve had no football for almost a month and we have to wait till sept 1st for vengence. BUT if this one season can help jumpstart doug to being more creative and us having consistent 8 win seasons then I will look back on this season and say it was worth it.

Are you joking? So your buddy who has no coaching experience (this is assumed) and isn't a respected coach (this is assumed) starts "questioning" the coach of a D1 football program and you expect the coach to bend over backwards to answer all of his silly questions?

When people who don't do what I do and have no experience doing it start "questioning" me, my mood changes real quick too.

Why do you assume he has no experiance coaching. Actually his questions were not about the details of coaching but more geared towards the big picture. As to silly questions there wasnt one question that was silly. This person has forgotten more about leadership than most will ever know. More about coaching than most will ever know.

It was James Arthur, wasn't it?

Now there's a guy who loves to field questions about how he runs his program! He must be too stubborn to be a good coach at the D1 level. ;)

Now if that's not a glass half full perspective, I don't know what it. I'll roll with it.
