Coyle leaving for Minnesota AD job

Yup.

Says it all.

Really zeroed in on the fact his family is from the Midwest and that he might not have been comfortable in the East.

I felt that way about him since day one.
His wife has a lot of family in NJ, but yes seems like he is a midwest boy and wanted back to the midwest.

I sent an email to mail@carrierdome.com and I just stated what year I became a FB and BB season ticket holder and how many points I should have.

They shorted me season ticket points from 1985-1995 (since their database only went back as far as 1995). They said they would adjust the point totals, and it would appear on my account in July.

They got back to me within 24 hours.
I sent them the same kind of e-mail, and when my points arrived the other day, they had still screwed them up. I intend to call next week and try to straighten it out.

The guy wanted to be closer to family and Minnesota is a special place to him. How about we wish him the best and thank him instead of all the hate spewed on here. We will move on and find someone who's more than capable. Good luck Mark!
The problem isn't with him leaving. It's how he went about it. If he told his football coach (who he just hired) and his basketball coach (who is a legendary coach) and maybe some other people at the University and didn't blindside them, then fine. He came, he didn't like it and he left. No, he blindsided a lot of people here at Syracuse and acted like a weasel in how he left.

He has every right to leave for another job, just handle the situation with class and be up front about it. Coyle was totally unprofessional in his actions and it will be hard pressed to see anyone in the Syracuse family to wish him well with his new job.

SU Football just tweeted this out. A little message I think.

Tweak those numbers but other then that those new uniforms and those orange helmets ooooo those orange helmets look sooooooo good ! Our permanent unis should be all orange home all white away :D

Got a suggestion: Start looking for a new job, but don't tell anyone, when you find one then send an e-mail out, as you are leaving for the day, to your boss(es), co-workers and/or subordinate(s) that you are not coming back tomorrow and you are starting a new job for family reasons...seems to work...

Yes, this is quite a shock I would say. I have been on 7 or 8 hiring committees interviewing applicants for the various employers for whom I have worked; I was interviewing people for jobs in disability adjudication at a State Agency, and later for teaching jobs in the physical sciences at a State College. Wherever I have been employed, the hiring committees were always concerned about "job hoppers" who frequently change jobs or people who just want to "get their foot in the door" to use the position as a "stepping stone" to a more prestigious position - although I think SU is more so than UM. You always ask why they are leaving/left their prior job(s) and what their relationship was with their co-workers - and you look at their work history. It is telling that he left Boise State in a similar abrupt manner without informing others I have read, and it is really, really bad form to jump ship in less than a full year anywhere you are working.

Should tweet Texas Bowl highlights.

Funny how his job hopping initially helped make him a great candidate for SU at the time he was hired. http://cuse.com/mobile/staff.aspx?staff=500

His varied experience with a big time basketball program (Kentucky), fundraising (Boise, Kentucky), handling sanctions (Boise), Football success (Boise), marketing (Minnesota, Kentucky), etc.

However, if you are going to jump from job to job it is important not to burn bridges. He apparently did not with Minnesota as they are taking him back.

He had better hope that things work out in Minnesota because leaving the last two jobs the way he did it will be difficult for future hiring managers to look beyond these scars in his character.

Maybe I have soft spot as a job hopper myself:-)

something is odd.

either they lied to him, or he lied to us.

if hes the 1 lying then we didn't do a good job.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lied to him though.

11 months and hes rip-cording out to Minnesota is not the norm.
guessing that the offer was to good to turn down. had the bot taken a FIRM commitment on the REPLACING the dome it MAY be different---but he is doing what they do everyday in world. he went to a big time state supported program with new facilities, from a smallish private school fighting over a old stadium, with little support from the community and a small thinking bot,and not just about sports. my money is on the chancellor to take charge----he learns quickly--- will make another even better hire---worried about recruiting now though, babers must be furious
