Coyle leaving for Minnesota AD job

I think Pete Sala is great at what he does. I also think what the University needs is fresh ideas and an outside perspective. That's what got us HCDB
Big push right now by some on the Hill and Alums for Pete in light of today's events.

For family reasons, I've decided to remember him as the guy who would have hired Chris Ash if the rumor didn't break the internet.

Now that would be a reason to get mad. Imagine if he hired Ash and then left? Whoa

I'm not against Pete getting the job and I have no idea if it would be a good fit as a permanent hire. But, the timing might not be that good. Right now, Pete is in front of all the campus renovations including the Dome but also including the renos and upgrades to other buildings and sites on campus. He's knee deep in that and it just might be harder to replace him in that role than replacing the AD.

I think my earlier post went bye bye with Kaiser but isn't Pete a facility guy? And don't take that the wrong way (it's a huge important job). But it's not an AD type background

That is a real interesting question. JB's a Nike guy. Doesn't Nike pay some of his 'salary'? I wonder if he has an out-clause...
Nike does...sure retirement is probably an out...

Pretty much. That's why I said I don't know if its a good thing permanently. I don't know all of his experiences and skills outide of managing the Dome and now all facilities.

This. Syracuse needs someone qualified who wants to be there long term. Nick checks all the boxes.

They should've hired him the first time.. Very sharp former Big East guy now doing well at UnderArmour.

He was my guy way in he beginning the last time. I still follow him on Twitter despite him not being of much interest to me now.

I'll take that as a sign...

UA guy has a really good looking resume

I hope so, getting tired of Nike.

I was down on them when they gave us the duct tape looking hoops uniforms. But I'm a fan of tradition. Syracuse has been a Nike school for as long as I can remember.

That UA logo looks really weird on sneakers too. I bet most hoop players would prefer wearing Nike.

I'm all for tradition, but I don't think Nike cares about the branding of our football team. We are always behind in getting new uniforms and never have anything "cutting" edge. Sure wearing Nike's playing Basketball might be important to some kids, but I really don't pay that close attention to Basketball.

guessing that the offer was to good to turn down. had the bot taken a FIRM commitment on the REPLACING the dome it MAY be different---but he is doing what they do everyday in world. he went to a big time state supported program with new facilities, from a smallish private school fighting over a old stadium, with little support from the community and a small thinking bot,and not just about sports. my money is on the chancellor to take charge----he learns quickly--- will make another even better hire---worried about recruiting now though, babers must be furious
little support from the community. Are you for real or should this be in sarcasm font

I was waiting for someone to bring that up. Let the gophers have him.
