We have turned into Villanova.
Anyway: so is it just gonna be like that? We accept those shots? Girard's in particular was horrific. Until it went in. But geez. What does everyone think about those two shots? Both were responses to 3's taken by WVU which had something to do with it, but that type of "hero shot" rarely benefits your team!
I don't know if it has been discussed already, but I'd like to talk about this.
Yesterday we made two flat footed, completely out of the offense "logo shots." One from Joe in the first half, and one from Buddy in the 2nd half. Now, JG3 and AG have been doing this all year and shoot those at a rate of approximately zero percent. Those shots almost invariably lead to 2 or 3 points on the other end in short order.
I feel shots like that are hideously damaging. But somehow both of them went in and we likely aren't in the Sweet 16 if they don't go in and are almost certainly losing if they miss. (Slight subtlety there: I think the 6 points we got were valuable for sure, but I think missing those shots would have hurt us more than making them helped us).

Ever since Joe and Griffin have had their minutes cut we’ve been smarter with the ball and those shots you mentioned have come less and less. Yes there were two yesterday but it’s better than the 10 we used to see. Between the defensive upgrades and the 8 turnovers (those shots are turnovers) a game it’s not shocking that this is a different team. Let’s keep it up, we revert back to that and this team won’t last long, fortunately I think the staff and players realize this.I don't know if it has been discussed already, but I'd like to talk about this.

It really is amazing to see this happen. Sure, we all saw that we had some guys on this team who could hit threes at a better than average clip, but then again most of the decent teams we've faced have bragged about similar depth of firepower, many of them having multiple 'zone-busters' on their roster, from Notre Dame to Virginia to SDU & WVA.In the last 5 games we have made 61 3s at a clip of over 12 a game.
The pct is 43.8 pct ( round that one up of course )
That is crazy efficiency.
Why? If we miss em, Joe will simply snatch up all those long rebounds anyway, amirite?I'm glad we made those shots yesterday - they were daggers. But I'll be very happy if we take none of those against the Cougs.
