Crowd

Tailgate and eat good food and bring your own beer. Plus, you get to enjoy the freaking weather. What traffic? There isn't any because idiots like you don't actually go but complain about crap for no reason, there is more of all you complain about at a basketball game.

There are plenty of reasons to go, quit your belly aching.

Hahaha, "idiots like me"? Wow, are you 12? Grow up.

I don't go because I live 2500 miles away, and when I did live there I went to most of the games, football and basketball. What you appreciate with the pregame and during the game experience might not be what everybody else appreciates.

The only complaint i have is i was turned away at fine lot today (which is where i park) because i got there late (and by late i mean 11:30). The reason was because it was full. I threw a fit and basically forced my way in and half ass parked. All due respect to the tailgaiters here this pissed me off. 50 spaces taken up tailgaiting when i pay a lot of money to park in that lot. Only complaint i have

How bout you do what i suggested parking wise save the money (free) and walk to fine lot. I admit I'm cheap. I would never pay for a parking pass. When I was in college and living on campus i didn't pay for a parking pass (believe it was 120 for the year or something like that) Heck no i parked in the residential neighborhood right near my dorm.

Im not cheap. I would pay $1000 to park next to the dome. I have one shot at life and i dont cut corners. Not saying anyone should live their life any different.

My gripe is i have paid to park there for 20 years and i am now getting boned because there are no spots. Its crap

If you can't actually go to a game then don't comment about why others don't, especially making derogatory accusations about what may or may not happen. You have no frame of reference for the issues/non-issues that exist.

I apologize for the idiot comment it was uncalled for.

Why not bite your tongue instead of the ultra douche post.

When an ignorant idea of dollar beer at the dome is brought up it deserves a douchey response. Didn't realize Syracuse University would be on the same level as the Syracuse Chiefs and need gimmicks to get people in the door.

There are 7 home games this year, if you need dollar beer night to boost the crowd up you have issues that are far worse than the prices of concessions.

I moved away from CNY in June, I went to 5 football games last season and 12 basketball games. When I was in my 20s it was simple to get people to go to games, we'd roll 8-9 deep for every game we went to. I moved away to Florida for 7 years, moved back and it was impossible to get more than one person that wanted to go to the games.

I'm bringing this stuff up not to disrespect the university nor anybody on here, but there is a major issue with attendance and it's because of our level of play the past decade. It's not going to change until there is excitement up on the hill. If this team was top 20 people wouldn't have issues with parking/weather/traffic or anything, they'd go. With a not great team they don't want to be bothered with all of that extra stuff when it's simple to sit on the couch in your underwear and order a pizza.

One thing I like about Syracuse football living on the west coast now is that the game starts at 9:30 AM.

Dollar beers help the quantity in terms of crowd, and quality of crowd when it comes to rowdiness and energy. Would prob even bring more students in especially for those 12/12:30 kickoffs. Same for a Friday night game those students could get some pre-game in before their night ahead.

This idea is just about getting more people in the dome, and making sure they r a good crowd energy/emotion wise.

Low numbers on the crowd but those who were there are the best fans. It was the old diehards screaming, high-fiving and dancing in the aisles. Not sure how it sounded on tv but it sounded loud in there when we needed it. Kudos to those GREAT football fans in my section and all throughout the Dome today.

On the radio post-game HCSS thanked those who stick with the program and bring it each week.

2-0 baby. Good day to be Orange!!!

I'm on the other side thank you, I personally think it would be smarter to promote a family atmosphere where a married couple brings their 2.5 kids and buys a bunch of shirts that are marked up 200% than it is to invite drunks in who if anything will bring down any sort of energy on every run that we make that isn't for 5 yards and starts screaming drunkin jibberish driving away the groups of people who do go to games.

You want butts in the seats, get a good product on the field. It's simple.

My point is that there is no issues with parking or traffic for games (less so than hoops). Weather no-one can control and it's the same no matter where you watch a game.

It's the same negative crap, and if you're not around you really cant comment on it.

Yeah, we need to be better, no crap, they are working on it. I was set off by people living less than 10 miles away questioning attendance, you just caught the brunt because of the way you have been responding.

Too bad people did not show up because it was a great time in the dome today. All of us old die hards and the students made a hell of a lot of noise. The bandwagon fans will return in 2 weeks and then never be seen again.

There are some posters you cannot take seriously, just let it pass.

Your parking pass reads "West" so if you arrive late off to Standart. Why piss on one of the good things?

Marsh, I say, just show up early and hit the tailgate for some good food, good drinks and some good SU conversations. You might even make it on TV as they show you eating some of that good food while having some good conversations.

Amazing how loud it was with 26k. The fans that came were quality. I was shocked by the number though, Its a scary trend for our program. Im worried

I am worried too. The attendance this season is worse than ever, the players are taking notice, and I am sure it is going to be used in future battles. I am beginning to wonder if winning will even bring back fans for football games.

We had 48K for Clemson 2 years ago, and the crowd for FSU last year was solid. I imagine we'll have a good 45K+ for LSU. People still show up, they just do it only once or twice a year, and I think that's entirely because of how mediocre-to-lousy this program has been for a decade-and-a-half running. I mean we have had exactly two winning regular seasons in the past THIRTEEN years, and both of those were 7-5 years.

I hate to see the Dome so empty, but I dont know what people expect? I do believe that if we win again, really win, not 6-7 win white knuckle seasons, we'll get back to seeing 42K+ in the Dome.

A week ago I would have agreed, but 26 for an ACC opponent ...Im not so sure, thats even way low for our recently poor standards

Can we copy this post, or some other variation of it, to insert (and then lock) all future threads about crowds or attendance?

It'll save a lot of the unnecessary back and forth between people who watch from home (for whatever reason) and those who attend.

Just a suggestion.

It's Wake Forest. No one would accuse the SU fan base of being particularly savvy, so I imagine most people perceive Wake as being no better than mid-90s Rutgers and Temple. The allure of it being an ACC game is nonexistent, in my opinion.
