Cuse vs. Tennessee in Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game - Atlanta 2025

If you're able to make it down there you can drink/eat 100% for free at our tailgate. I just realized I will be in my early 40s for this game -- good lord.
if it makes you feel better I will be in my later 50s. ok, that makes me feel way worse than playing this game the same year as ND. dammit! But thank you for the tailgate invite, that would be amazing!

I don't get some of you... this is awesome. National game to kick off the season, great pub for the program, and a fun trip to close out the summer.

We already have Army and UConn home games on the OOC sked for '25. That's 2 wins, unless we're dreadful. Tennessee is as likely to be awful as they are to be an SEC giant in 4 years. It's not like we scheduled Bama.

Oooooh, but Scooch, I'm ascared, we need to schedule for six wins!

1) If we're still white knuckling for 6 wins against garbage competition four years from now, here's a hint, we're still a mediocre-to-terrible program and it doesn't really matter anyway.

2) If getting 4 wins in the ACC is an unattainable task, see #1.

My goodness, go enjoy the Albany game. I'll be in Atlanta in 4 years.
Agree on all points.

Bottom line, this is a huge money maker for the athletic program. They need the money. The football program could use the publicity, it is great to have a game in Georgia to point to when recruiting players from Georgia and Florida...

Lots to be happy about here.

Knew exactly what the comments were going to be on this. Clicked anyways. People just love being miserable.

How Syracuse somehow landed a Chick-Fil-A kickoff game against an SEC school I will never know. This is huge publicity for our program, it helps with a recruiting, it's a fun trip for a lot of alumni, and it's four years from now! We could be good, we could be terrible, but this is exactly the type of thing that gets me excited about SU football.

Can't wait to go down to ATL, drink with old friends, and enjoy a marquee game in one of the more impressive stadiums in the US.

Who cares about the score?

I will be screaming from the nosebleeds like a raving lunatic upon every Cuse score, chik fil a sauce in one hand and miller lite in the other

I hope we are better. I keep having Maryland flashbacks. But I hope we are better and can at least be competitive. Win or lose, playing well in a national game will serve us well. I just dont want another Maryland.

I don't think we will have that, that was a special blend of arrogant players combined with overrated talent.

It’s great when you schedule like this, unless you win only five games and miss a bowl. When you look at that schedule you have to think 1-3 in the non conference part of the schedule. If Dino is still here that will be year ten. Hopefully, we’ll be more competitive.

you guys have sold me on this game, even with it being in the ND year. Now, Eric has already been gracious enough to invite me to the tailgate, who's got my hotel, plane fare and game ticket?? C,mon, I thought we were friends!

Army is no joke by any means, but we should be 2-2 at worst. I definitely don't like the year of it, but I think it was Scooch who pointed out that we really can't be picky on the specific year with an opportunity like this, so let's cross our toes!

As a fan I love this game. But look at 2012 as an example of over scheduling. We had a good team yet we only went 7-5 that year because we had 11 BCS games (USC, Northwestern, Minny, Mizzou all OOC). That team deserved to be ranked. In 2025 the same could happen as we have 10 P5 games and 0.0 FCS games.

Meanwhile in 2025 other ACC teams could easily go 8-4 because they schedule soft.

Duke- Illinois, Liberty, at MTSU, at Tulane
NC State- East Carolina, Campbell, at ND, at LA Tech
Wake- Army, Western Carolina, at Liberty, at Ole Miss

The above three schools have not been all that much better than SU the last 10 years but they have a good perception because of their yearly soft OOC scheduling.

The issue isn't playing Tennessee but playing Tennessee and ND.
