Class of 2014 Dakari Johnson

Question:

If MCW enters the draft, but both DjC and Xmas do NOT... does Dakari commit?

No, but maybe that scenerio opens a spot for Jordan if hes still uncommitted come spring.

I doubt it and don't really see why he would. We'd have 3 really good big guys with those two and Kieta, who may not be a mcdonalds guy but hes improved quite a bit every year.

Yeah. I can't see him coming with Coleman, Rak, and Keita here. Unless one or two leave. If they are all here that would be 3 upper classman he would have to compete with.

If he comes here the kid is gonna get his playing time at center with Coleman and Rak getting time a PF and backup center, dont think DJ is afraid of a little competition. If a scholly opens up think he is ours.

No way Dakari starts ahead of Coleman and Christmas

This is why I posited the question to begin with. Hearing from enough people that this could be true that I feel it's worth discussing. Personally I don't know what he is thinking if he would commit behind DjC and Rak ... that sounds like a terrible idea IMO (for him)... but I do know that he is a strong SU lean.

Intuition says we were recruiting him hard and he was essentially in the bag, and when he reclassified he wasn't thinking about the logjam... but now that reality has hit him, he is in wait-and-see mode. Don't think he would ever declassify to suit the PT of one team, his decision certainly includes a much bigger picture... but if DC/Rak leaves and he can come here to fill that gap he will.

Yes. Yes I am.

At center yes, kid is a beast top 15 player would have been top 5 if he stayed in 2014.
He's not starting over either, doubt they both will be back next year so he would start.

Coleman was a top 15 player at one time ranked top 3 and will be a sophmore with a year or experience in the zone. Rak was ranked top 30 and will a junior. I doubt Dakari Johnson starts over either. He's a great talent but I just don't see him starting or taking playing time from either of those guys.

Right. What people (and the staff by continuing to recruit him despite his reclassification) are trying to say is that they expect at least one to be gone.

Yeah its a moot debate... he only comes here if DC2 and/or Rak leave early.

I'd rather have a sophomore Coleman or junior Christmas over Dakari for one season. One year's experience in college, especially in our conference, especially with JB, especially in the zone, is HUGGGGEEEEEEE

some guy named Carmelo says you are wrong

Top 15 and Top 3? All of the rankings I saw had him outside top 15 and 5th best player at his position

Coleman had a shot at being a top 5 recruit. He got bored with the competition. Steven Adams was allegedly the number 1 center last year. I would take Coleman over him all day any day and twice on Sunday.

I watched Adams play this week and was impressed ... and if you read the quotes from Dakari's mom it sounds like he is Kentucky's to lose and of not for Autry's early recruitment we would not have any chance... If Xmas and Coleman come back next year he's not coming here

Dakari is definitely not Kentucky's to lose. Dakari is a "HUGE" SU fan.
