Less to like about this sport every year.Money changed the sport and those schools are behind the curve so if you want to win you need to invest in your facilities. Those schools are behind now in that area. In this modern-day its less about location and more about "what can you offer" a recruit.
While the money has exploded in college football with each conference having a network and making so much money to spread around to their schools and programs which do help the downstream sports stay afloat (ie Field Hockey and Soccer...etc), the on-the-field product in college football has regressed in many ways.Less to like about this sport every year.
Nobody in their athletic departments thought to reach out to Joe Rogan? Smh
And conferences being distorted out of recognition. While the money has exploded in college football with each conference having a network and making so much money to spread around to their schools and programs which do help the downstream sports stay afloat (ie Field Hockey and Soccer...etc), the on-the-field product in college football has regressed in many ways.
-The playoff hurt the bowls, expanding the playoff will kill off the bowls and make it impossible for mid-level programs (ie Syracuse) to ever have post-season play ever again
-Paying players and the Transfer Portal means every player is on a 1-year contract and it's open free agency each year.
-Players sitting out bowl games because they are focusing on their "Draft Status"
-The arms race of building a five-star resort and complex just to be able to "compete" is what is hurting programs like Miami, FSU, and Florida. They are stationed in recruiting hotbeds but they don't have the money to invest like some of these other schools do. They have nice facilities but at least with Miami and FSU they can't compete with these other programs. Florida is just in a killer conference and they have to spend to an insane level to keep up with the other SEC schools.
Could not agree with this more. It’s sad I used to look forward to watching college football every Saturday, now it’s just Syracuse games and then I’m done besides highlights of other games. While the money has exploded in college football with each conference having a network and making so much money to spread around to their schools and programs which do help the downstream sports stay afloat (ie Field Hockey and Soccer...etc), the on-the-field product in college football has regressed in many ways.

If not for the gambling aspect now that I can place bets legally at Casino's in CNY, I wouldn't even pay attention to the sport honestly. The gap between the Have and Have-More's is so large there is no catching up ever, and its only getting larger that gapCould not agree with this more. Not compared to some of the other SEC schools they are competing against. That is their issueThis isn’t it at all. Florida has fine facilities.
The flu is something that people say but rarely have. That’s debilitating and you are in bed for.
Unrelated, but I am curious how bad the flu season is this year for post pandemic / reopening reasons. I got my shot and keep wearing a mask just to avoid the flu. I hate being sick. The flu is something that people say but rarely have. That’s debilitating and you are in bed for.
I doubt it’s the flu
Recruiting is fine. Can always be better esp when the competition is Alabama… but it’s not the issue. Not compared to some of the other SEC schools they are competing against. That is their issue
I’m waiting for Sarkisian this morning to say “yes, the flu. That’s it, we all had the flu!”
If you’re someone who doesn’t like the Gators and Longhorns, yesterday probably wasn’t the worst day for you.
It's pretty amazing how Sark keeps getting recycled.
He keeps falling up. Washington to USC to Texas. What has this guy ever done to warrant this?
