you literally don't, out of the 25 guys in the portal
most of them were literally asked to leave to free up spots because they either didn't perform or dont project to play anytime soon if ever.
Malachi James has his dad in his ear among other things
Ross got bullied by a guy who we already fired
Gill is presumably bag chasing
Willis is implied to have been told to leave
Delaine is graduating and wants to go somewhere where he will play
Singleton, Miller and Gillians are the only real guys who don't have a solid reason for leaving, but it could very well be one of the above reasons.


I don't necessarily think Fran's a miracle worker, but on average most teams are having 25-30 people in the portal, Syracuse is not unique in this regard.

Whatever. Fran said we were different. Building from the ground up. Retain, develop from the high school level and building the individuall. Did he not? I thought we were different no? Clearly his message isn’t being heard. 3-9 will do that

I am getting numb to this. I will still get excited for the season comes summer. I am just tired of feeling apathetic comes October. 10-3 was great but what a difference a year makes. We desperately need sustained success but that is growing more difficult in the NIL/transfer portal era (for a non-blueblood).

Being a college head coach is becoming a less attractive job IMO. You need to be a bit of a masochist to put up with this every year.

Of course a WR is going to struggle when your struggling mightily at the QB position. I'm not sure your point. I don't think Randy Moss would have been productive with our passing game after Steve got hurt.

Willis is very replaceable

The money available in the Portal is insane. He will get more cash from a new team then he will get from the Cuse. This could be life changing money for some of these kids. The game is all about managing the Portal now..

He may get more money but there are some really high end receivers in the portal.

I realize I am biased, but think he's making a big mistake. For a guy like Willis, I can see where it would make sense. But Gill? He would be the unquestioned #1 WR here in an offense that has proven it will throw for a ton of yards with a decent QB. I wish him the best, but think he'll regret it.

Dude it seems like you may want to go root for another team. Only negative. If Fran left we would loose 95% of the team. These kids say they come for Fran.
Players leave for the money. They also come for the money and Fran. Let’s see who we get in the portal.

Both are in theory.

Elite WRs are elite and in a different category. But Gill is a good WR (and i truly mean no disrespect by that. He’s good, not elite) and there are/will be a lot of that category in the portal. We just have to get them.

Ok. I think most RBs probably are - however, he was our bell cow back and was probably the best offensive player we had before the offense had no QB. My opinion.

He is a true sophomore and can get better - was a big recruit. And we are supposed to just be ok with it? Sorry.
