You know Gill ran track right? Cook wasn't as fast, talented yes, faster than Gill? No. After seeing James depart at RB you would think folks wouldn't make speed be the end all be all in their analysis.

Different kind of speed. Cook is twitch quick and absolutely faster off the line and out of cuts. Much more explosive. Gill is a long strider, more straight line speed off a block. I'll take Cook.

Gill was always overrated because he made some highlight reel catches. He is replaceable. We will miss Cook more because of his speed. We don't have a burner at receiver right now which every team needs. Demetreus Smuels seems like our fastest player but didn't click on offense.
Gill is well faster than Cook.

Not sure where the legend of Cook being a speedster came from but he ran away from nobody and got tracked down more than once from behind. If he was a burner he'd have had more than 2 TDs.

Samuels I think was being run ragged and/or coaches knew they couldn't risk him being hurt with no secondary depth.

that’s just simply not true

very first clip he ran past 3 dudes lol

top end speed and slot speed are different. cook was very twitchy and his speed was best utilized on slants & 7 yard completions where he could break an extra 10 simply by running by the guy at an angle

YouTube is your friend.
Sounds like it should be yours too. I watched his highlights when he left. Which is your favorite, him getting run down from behind by 3 players at Clemson or him getting run down by the Colgate LB? Tell me a play where he "burned" a defender?

sigh.

sigh.
Yep. Agree to disagree I guess. We watch the same clip and somehow see different things apparently.

All good, we'll see who is more productive next year... Sadly won't be with us for either.

Flip side, your boy Cole now gets his shot and we're certainly in agreement on him

my man! glad u like that addition.

things should work out for him if everything goes right

thats fine, ill take Cook over Gill. other teams worried about cook more than Gill. None of it matters because we wouldnt pay either of them.

We are/did pay him to a certain point.

Unfortunately Gill is a VERY hot commodity in the portal. Gill loves Cuse and loves Fran Brown...but when you are getting the offer$$$ he is getting, it would be hard pressed to stay around.

Now ultimately we will have to see, sometimes you take these big money offers from these large public universities and you do not see the field. This ultimately hurts future earnings because you no longer are standing out like you were on the smaller market teams.

I hope the best for Gill. Fantastic kid, fantastic athlete. Would love nothing more to keep him here.
Kids a UFA. If he can make multiples now than he will as a UDFA - which is what I think right now (I’m very far from an expert), then he should go for it.

Since our system is pretty diverse use of WRs , it can system guys into numbers that are better than their talent. Gill was pretty good when he didnt have press coverage had some space to get open.. not every team allows that.

So if he wanted to donate 1m to the program if he went pro, you'd say no? Come on. If he wants to come back he can come back.
The chances of that happening are about 1%

You must have been terribly disappointed Pena didn’t succeed at Penn St this year. Is everything ok?

Obviously he has hands and high points exceptionally well. Presume former basketball player? Have any input on his speed or vertical? He a track and feild kid as well by chance?

Yeah that's fine, again agree to disagree. Not sure who's after Cook but the team's after Gill certainly tell the story about those outside the program view him.

I am going to give a very general update on Gill but hold off on more until later. First of all he really wanted to stay at Syracuse. He loves Syracuse. Things just didn't go well in that direction. Money was not the driving force at all. He still plans on finishing up his degree with SU as he loves SU. He will be a remote student and I am asuming will also transfer credits in from his new school if needed. I am not exactly sure how the whole matriculation thing works with playing for another school. I am sure it will all get figured out properly.
He is down to 3 teams. He is partnered up with some big portal QBs and they will chose to go someplace together most likely. Of his current final 3 teams, 2 are in the College Football Playoff semi finals. He also heard from many other top 20 programs and for various reasons decided not to pursue those schools. Both teams playing tonight have offered him. They all consider him WR #1.
Maybe we just didn't realize what we had here.

Amazing info. Thank you.

0 chance he returns to Cuse then?

If Trebor does well in life and decides his time at SU was more impactful, maybe he'll donate here in the future rather than PSU.
