Hurts but can be replaced. Our system, when the QB’s healthy, is built for wideouts outperforming.

I wish Gill well wherever he goes. Looking at those schools, may as well call it as it is, he’s getting offered enough money where you can’t say no. There’s no shame in that. This is life changing money for families.
But we're being told it isn't a money issue? And more will be revealed. Or now it won't be? I'm not sure.

Of the top 25 wide receivers in the portal only three have not committed. Number five, number six, and number 11. Gill is number six.

Another one committed. Only Gill and a Texas kid are left.

Is there any chance he comes back to Cuse? If he could come back this could be our best Wr room maybe ever.

Today I learned from the Syverud thread that it is not worth posting information that I get directly from the source as I did with the Syverud "retirement" move to Ann Arbor.
I will not be updating you on Gill and won't tell you what really happened with him leaving SU. I'm done with the snide comments.
I'm done with snide comments so I'm going to make a snide comment because of something I misunderstood from a different thread that has no bearing on this discussion. Lol ok. I know you donate a lot and are well respected/connected whatever, but you sound like a child here in this particular comment. Flame away but no one is above being called out for acting childish even if others are tip.toeing around it.

The poster who was going to say more about it has decided not to. At this point we've moved into beating a dead horse territory. I don't feel that there's much discussion right now.
Ok

Jut put those people on ignore I believe your information.

Why so disrespectful?

Oregon makes sense, Ross Douglas knows him.
Michigan makes sense, Beck knows him.

I bet it’s one of those schools he ends up simply based on that.
So maybe he's waiting to see if Donte Moore returns?

He felt incredible allegiance. He still loves SU.
Well I appreciate all the information that you have been kind enough to share.
I am a huge Darrel Gill fan and frankly thought last year he really bloomed with Angeli.
And those catches he made earlier in the year to get the Moss gloves, just incredible.

I am not surprised that his reasons are more than just about a bag.
This past year seriously taxed the faith of the players in the coach and the system.
For all intents and purposes, all the receivers were hung out to dry given the fact we did not have a serviceable QB once Angeli left.
There was no one who could get the ball to them consistently.
So, I understand that Gill wants to go somewhere where he can play meaningful games and have a chance to reach the NFL. And know that there is a decent to great QB throwing him the ball.

Personally, I have lost a lot of faith in Fran and how he does things based on the second half of the season. And I don't mean the wins and losses per se, but how he ran the team.
So, I can only imagine how these players felt.

Please pass on my good wishes to his mom. Wherever he goes, I will be cheering him on.

Until told otherwise I can only form an opinion with evidence available. Think thats reasonable. I appreciate insiders and people who generously provide facts, but there hasn’t been enough provided on this matter yet to lead me to change my opinion.

I think it is unfair to suggest that the fans or program do not want or respect him if we just cannot afford to pay him. I would hope this is not an issue of just being unable to communicate that effectively. If the kid has a FMV of $2M and we can only pay $1M, we should be encouraging him to leave. We have done that with others. If it is $1.2M and we are at $1M, then it is a slightly different issue.

I mean, we could pay him... but maybe that means having an even worse overall team. There are 10-15 programs that can force these issues with the second tier of funded teams (i.e. Florida taking Ga Tech's QB)... much less a 3rd tier funded team like Syracuse. At least we are above the 4th and 5th tier FBS teams.

I emplore you to read between the lines from a poster that knows first hand. You're a great fan and poster but please take notes on what was said vs what is assumed. You'll find the answer

Having a hard time putting my finger on exactly what else may have occurred. Either White burnt the bridge that was Gill’s relationship with Syracuse football or maybe the staff’s going in a different direction at the WR group that negatively impacts Gill (doubtful). What I’m stuck on is the board contributor’s comment suggesting Syracuse perhaps didn’t know what it had with Gill…

Again, respect and appreciate the inside info but clearly I’m missing something.

I don’t want to start pointing fingers at the staff if I don’t know facts aside from how often Gill was targeted last year and the suitors he’s courting now.

My guess from what llandz said is he is loyal to the school, but not necessarily to the football coaches because of White. Maybe he loves his professors, has a girlfriend, enjoys the whiskey at Awful Al's and REALLY can't part ways with those roast beef sliders at Clark's.

If keeping it real when someone throws a tantrum post unprovoked is considered disrespectful then I don't know what to tell ya. I was going to let you play with my ball next week, but now I'm not because something happened somewhere else. Anyways, I wish we still had Gill. I think he would have had a monster year this year with a semi competent QB and he's got the measurables to play in the NFL. I wish him well. If he's after a bag and/or a chance at the CFP, I don't fault him one bit.

I understand you didn’t mean for it to have any negative repercussions, but posts like yours can lead to good people not posting good information here.

This 1000% The question I was going to ask 315, do you think a poster, any poster, who gets called out, rightly or wrongly, is more likely to give information or less likely?
