I don’t know why he has to go in the portal. He wasn’t on scholarship, wasn’t in school and wasn’t on the roster any longer. Seems like he could just go where he wants without the formality of the portal.

He would still need to sit out a year if not for the portal. If not you would have seen kids in the past just straight up quitting school and going home and then playing for a new team the next year with no repercussions.

I’m trying to figure out if he did indeed quit school how would he have maintained good standing to be able to transfer without issue.

From a Compliance standpoint I'm not sure how he is allowed to enter his name in the portal. You have to "enter" the portal through compliance and I figured they wouldn't be able/allowed to do so if that student wasn't enrolled in the school anymore. Maybe there is a grace period or something.

No they weren’t. Even kids like Barclay stayed on the roster. But not Labrosse.
