Del St Postgame

Really everyone on the team has been stacking the stat sheet. Diawara credited with 2 blocks even :). I thought Zephyr has been efficient too for what being the last man off the bench.

I’m really not seeing many defensive liabilities. Obvi this isn’t exactly a murderers row of competition but still.

I don’t get the quality of competition comments. We beat LeMoyne by 4 last year and they were near the bottom of the NET….
The 2 teams we’ve played are terrible. It’s impossible to accurately determine how good our team is at this point in time. Last year’s SU team was not good. This year’s team could be really good but let’s see how we play against Houston and Kansas before rushing to judgement.

Happy to see the intensity continuing to carry over.

Kyle looks to be a serious asset along with Sadiq and Donnie. Interested to see if Kiyan can continue his stellar play with stiffer competition.

A little concerned with George's high turnover rate so far but I like his game a lot.

With some extra fine tuning and cleaning up throughout the year this looks like a team that can make a run in the tournament.
Kyle is an excellent rebounder

It’s one thing to say let’s see things against better competition but it’s another to make the comment that playing against this competition is somehow a negative thing and takes away from the performance. Delaware state is better than Binghamton and this performance, without JJ and with George being less efficient was more dominant than the first game. Paired with no drop off in focus or intensity.

Both these teams are equal to what LeMoyne was last year and last years team nearly lost that game. That’s the important distinction being made while literally everyone is already making it clear that the Vegas games will tell us just how much better this years squad is vs the previous two years.

Everyone on the board knows that! People are happy because we haven't blown anyone out in ages.

Arrow is way up, it’s okay to see positive things

It’s not a negative playing teams like Binghamton and Delaware State but there is little upside in these games. Play well and those who do the ranging give you little credit. Play poorly, like last year’s team did against Lemoyne, and it’s a huge negative. I’m taking nothing against this year’s team but I’m not yet convinced we can beat the elite teams. I expect us to be double-digit underdogs against Houston.

We could be double digit underdogs against Houston and still be a good team.

You need these games because the margin of victory is part of the equation to the NET so yes you need these games. If you beat a bunch of 100-200 NET teams by 10 pts then you are at a disadvantage to the teams scheduling these games and winning by 40.

Houston has done nothing this year yet to warrant being favored by that much so if they are favored by that much and we are undefeated when we play them who cares?

Also a new team benefits from these games to build some confidence and find their footing. Unlike when rosters changed far less year over year 10 yrs ago everyone has 60 pct or more turnover to work through.

That is true. Don’t get me wrong. This year’s team looks far superior to last year’s team in so many ways. I think they are under-rated in the ACC and nationally.

Houston is a known quantity. Most are picking them to be in the Final Four. We are an unknown quantity. I love the way we’ve played in the first 2 games but we can only speculate on how we will match up against Houston, Kansas and Tennessee. As of today we will be solid underdogs in all 3 games. We are an unknown with what I believe to be a high ceiling.

None of that I was debating my only point was that in regard to these sub 250/300 NET opponents they are unfortunately a necessary part of scheduling because of the way the rankings are calculated.
