• 2 guys playing about 15 minutes a game
• 2 guys playing 50% of the game (~20 minutes)
• 3 guys playing around 25 minutes
• and 1 guy playing 28 minutes, but he will be giving up some time when JJ is back

This is how you keep guys involved, and how you play with high defensive intensity.
This is how you build depth for later in the season.

Rotations are more understandable because Red has better players. He tried to sub last year, but just didn’t have the horses. It’s very obvious that Red wants to play 9-10 guys every game. To play pressure defense, you have to rotate guys. If you want guys to stay, you better play guys.

I watched it live, but I’m watching highlights. A lot of players with so much potential, but Donnie Freeman is him!

I saw more motion and structure on offense. The movement and cuts were still on the soft side, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Really felt good about what Kyle did today. And then I saw him come out at the end, being congratulated on his game by Red, and the difference in their heights was shockingly small. He plays taller. Good game.

Surprised at Kiyan’s effectiveness against (more) grownups than he faced in HS. His defense isn’t as much of a liability as I expected, and he is canny enough on offense to still convert against contact. Either he got stronger in the offseason or he just adapted more quickly than I expected. I hope this is not a cupcake mirage, but I now expect he will adapt and progress along with the competition. Teams in the future will be more physical with him, but I like what he’s doing and see his potential being realized well ahead of schedule. Also really glad that he is not just sticking to perimeter shots. He has a well-rounded offensive game.

Although George has been okay, I’m not yet impressed. I thought he would be more of a floor general, but I think he just needs the regular and consistent and contiguous minutes that he’ll see against tougher comp. The line changes aren’t doing him favors.

Still disappointed in Kingz. And in our overall perimeter (3pt) game. There’s time. I hope, like George, he just needs to find that rhythm with Nait.

White had a lot of turnovers. Like, three, in his first couple of minutes. I like everything else he does, but his handle/playmaking/passing was quite bad today.

Not sure what to make of Betsy. UPS and downs, I guess.

Luke, again, looks like the guy I saw in his first Aussie national game over the summer, where he didn’t have his footing and didn’t contribute. Then, in the games I didn’t watch, he performed nicely. I hope he’s just ramping up and building confidence.

This is a very difficult team to analyze and project. So nice to see blowouts again, but my enthusiasm remains tempered. I like the defense, I think, but don’t know how good it really is. I really need us to shoot better from 3. That may be the key to the season.

Many positives thus far but the lack of quality competition is a concern. Defense solid in every aspect. On offense FTs and 3-point shooting a concern and far too many turnovers today. But this team is exciting, fun to watch, and works hard.

I think it is a good idea to slowly ramp up to top competition when you have a ton of guys who have not played together. Plenty of tests this season.

His ability to Euro step through and around traffic is impressive. It shows how under control he is and his understanding of how to finish at the rim. Every shot around the rim Kiyan is soft and with touch. Impressive for a freshman. It’s hard to speed him up.

Houston is a known quantity. Most are picking them to be in the Final Four. We are an unknown quantity. I love the way we’ve played in the first 2 games but we can only speculate on how we will match up against Houston, Kansas and Tennessee. As of today we will be solid underdogs in all 3 games. We are an unknown with what I believe to be a high ceiling.

We need to game the NET as a conference like the Big 12 did. Blow out bad teams and inflate the numbers. That's the only way to get the ACC back into the upper echelon of the conference discussion.

I don't know what people aren't understanding about this. It was definitely talked about at the league meetings.

The competition will get better as we go, but it's nice to see us actually blowing out these teams too.

-wish we had a game against a team like Temple or Depaul before Vegas. A game we should win, but a better measuring stick/bigger challenge.

-Kyle’s stats were in just 21 minutes. This guy has blown away all expectations so far. His energy level is off the charts. In the first half he vacuumed up every rebound. Not just leaping ability too, he had good position.

-starting to get worried about Kiyan being a one and done. If the NBA thinks he can play defense he might well be.

-I still don’t know if we can be physical enough against teams with grown man bigs, but we have one of the most athletic front courts in the country with Freeman, Kyle, Kings, and White.

-the two proven transfers, Kingz and George have been the least productive and impressive starters so far. If they can pick up their game, and everybody else does what they’re doing, we will be pretty good, maybe dangerous. George has just been way too sloppy with the ball.

Even though Delaware state clearly is not good, our help defense and rim protection today was the best that it’s been in years.

He’s still a kid. His father was physically ready for the league.

So what? Two games in and the difference between SOS of 250 and 345 is negligible in the larger picture.

RPI is long gone. It’s the necessary path to build a strong baseline for the net based on MOV. With two blowouts we jumped 12 spots in Ken Pom.

We haven’t had two straight dominant performances on defense like that in a long time including against the bottom of the barrel.

I’ll say this. Our bigs can pass, catch and have really good footwork. We shouldn’t leave too many points on the floor if their in position to score.

Good point and to stack on a couple more.

- while we have a very talented PG who has had some ups and downs as he gets acclimated, we’ve seen that we won’t be beholden to having to force Nait to do everything on the court. Multiple guys can bring the ball up and initiate the break both guards and forwards.

- The size of Fennell and Anthony as additional ball handlers is an underrated benefit. They can see over most any defender. Fennell may not yet be shot seeking and uber aggressive but he’s getting more comfortable and defending well using that length.

- I don’t think we will see much drop off with Kiyan. The key is with him is that off a screen or on spot up his feet are set quickly and he has a good release point. Then on the ball once he has his man on his hip you can forget about who he is playing against as that’s where he excels and knows exactly how to attack from there or when to kick it out. It’s uncanny how polished that part of his game is and how much he learned from Melo.

Someone clearly told George to look more for his shot today

Yeah, he had two early 3 attempts I really didn't like. The first attempt wasn't really bad, but the 2nd attempt was a big time settle. I don't mind him taking a 3 but not the first shot attempt without any effort to work some offense. I think he will be fine - just needs to play more in the mold of the first game.

I think overall, our team will be really solid if they don't settle by heaving up quick 3's. Against better teams, this can happen. I like more what I saw against Delaware State. than the Binghamton game. I don't know if the statistics support this, but it seemed that we settled a little less and worked the offense more.

This team has me very intrigued I will wait for my for sure thoughts until after the Vegas trip. I do have some concerns, but I am very happy that we are playing very hard on the defensive side and we are back to out athleticing people. Those are two good signs compared to the last two years.

I’m in the same boat, after the exhibitions I was on the fire red train, now I’m on the “might we be back” train. Although I won’t call for a Kansas to be a “tournament or bust” decider considering their showing against UNC, so the Houston game and the third game will be huge

Houston has looked anything but dominant. They also got smoked in an exhibition game.
