IMO required attendance at monthly meetings is asking too much. Especially for non locals. They should have a meeting every month but only require that you attend at least one per quarter. So have it be every 3rd week of the month for 12 months with a requirement that you attend at least one every three months. And/or for the meetings you miss you can send a questionnaire based on that meeting that you are required to reply to via email.

is it possible to set up conference calls for the out of towners????

The first time I ever heard it was at Notre Dame Stadium back in 1988 during ND's 31-30 victory over Miami. At the time it seemed like a good idea. That being said, many things seemed like good ideas back in the 80's that don't today.

I didn't apply but I know someone who was selected. They were told not to let people know they were on the council. I believe the first meeting will be early January. There were over 600 people that submitted applications for it.
